As we gear up for construction to start, take a wild guess on this week's trivia question about construction of the old hospital in Marlinton nearly a 100 years ago...
**ANSWER: According to a Hospital History from the 1973-1974 Auxiliary Yearbook: $18,500. On December 20, 1930 the wood frame hospital was completely destroyed by fire. With the insurance money and additional available money, the County Court contracted with F.P. King, son of E.D. King who built the original hospital, to construct a brick and tile structure, 70’ x 33’, two stories, and a basement, for the sum of $18,500. The building committee consisted of the Hospital Board of Directors S.H. Hiner, G.M. Sharp, T.M. Sydnor, G.P. Edgar, and R.S. Jordan, a carpenter and contractor.
