HOW HYPERBARIC OXYGEN TREATMENT WORKS

Because of the increased pressure while in the chamber, oxygen is saturated into the blood at a much higher rate and is absorbed by every muscle, tissue, and cell of the body. In a simplified overview, hyperbaric oxygen treatment will increase oxygen throughout the body. In response, there will be a decrease in inflammation and oxidative stress as well as a decrease in mitochondrial dysfunction. In addition, HBOT is able to speed healing because of the increase in stem cells. These cells lay inside the bone marrow and are responsible for accelerating the healing of damaged cells and tissue. Whenever any part of the body is injured, these stem cells are excreted from the bone and move to the location of the injury. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential to either remain a stem cell, or to become another type with a more specialized function, such as muscle, red blood, or a brain cell. In many tissues, stem cells serve as an “internal repair system”, dividing essentially without limit to replenish other cells. Due to the stimulation of the stem cells, they can provide healing to every area of the body and act against disease, thus accelerating the healing process. Since wounds are often able to heal quicker, HBOT has, in some cases, preventing the need for amputation. Note: HBOT for open wound healing may require daily treatment until the infection is gone. HBOT may also increase stem cell production by over 800% and serotonin levels by over 400%, all of which will work toward improving and maintaining your health.
