Tomorrow!
Sept 5 2024 Self, Interdependence, Emptiness, and Memory
12 pm (first tuesday of each month)
The foundation of Buddhism is a reimagining of what "self" is. Often patients and clients come to us in some sort of crisis: who am I, what will I do next, what do these changes mean for me, and so on.
But what if a lot of basic psychological conflict comes from assuming that the self is real, like our skeletons or our intestinal tract? Or, for that matter, our brains?
We will also explore memory from a Zen Buddhist point of view,
-
Buddhist Psychology offers a new set of concepts to help us in this reimagining, but instead of just thinking about it, we learn ways to explore them in direct experiences such as conversation, overreacting, and meditation.
