Last week, we celebrated National Environmental Services Week. This was the perfect opportunity to honor the shining stars that work hard to keep our facility clean, safe, and comfortable. ⭐

Meet Cassie Randall, housekeeper. Cassie has been a part of our team for 9 months. Her favorite part of her job is giving the residents a positive interaction on a day-to-day basis. She also considers her co-workers to be family, which brings joy to her everyday work experience. Cassie’s biggest motivation is knowing that she’s lending a helping hand to the people who need it the most. Her professional goal is to work with children and young adults, providing them with the resources and pathways to their success and well-being. When asked what advice she would give to new employees, she stated, “Be yourself. The residents enjoy positive, genuine, consistent people who they can trust and rely on. Once they get to know you, and you – them, they will become friends, not just residents.”

Cassie has two children, Chance and Daniel, and an Australian Cattle Dog, Chip. In her free time, Cassie likes to kayak, read, paint, and practice self-care and spiritual work. A fun fact about Cassie is that she loves nature and her favorite food is Chinese!

“I choose Altercare because I knew I was going to be helping people for the better. No matter what position I went into, I knew I was going to be doing good for people who needed me. I have met so many wonderful people here, whether that be residents, or co-workers. Even through the small things, like helping with the residents or socializing with the staff, I go home every day feeling like I accomplished something big. Nothing overshadows the sense of family and good work given.”

We are fortunate to have six amazing leaders: Jennifer Goodin, Malinda Wells, Brittani Garnow, Rachel Sparks, Alicia Lemaster, and Aleigha Parsons. Their guidance, support, and willingness to take new nurses under their wing make a lasting difference in our facility. We are truly grateful for all they do! 💙

Last month, one of our residents had the privilege of participating in the Honor Flight at Home - Marion.

The Honor Flight is a national network dedicated to celebrating America’s veterans. While the traditional Honor Flight involves a trip to Washington, D.C., the “at home” version was created to honor those who are unable to travel. The Marion event began in 2018 and continues to recognize and celebrate local veterans.

Altercare Bucyrus resident Floyd was one of 20 veterans in attendance this year. Floyd served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class from 1961 to 1963, working as a helicopter mechanic stationed in Germany. Fellow honorees included veterans who served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, and Gulf Wars.

During the event, guests viewed a video of the Washington, D.C. Honor Flight, heard from a retired Colonel, and enjoyed music that paid tribute to all branches of the military. Each veteran was gifted a quilted lap blanket, a commemorative Honor Flight book, and a booklet highlighting the monuments of our nation’s capital.

It was an incredible honor for Floyd, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to celebrate one of our own from the Altercare family. 💙

Last month, we celebrated the first day of summer with our Annual Summer Social, benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. The day consisted of two food trucks, Grubb Brothers and Flavors-J's, activities, treats, and musical entrainment by Elvis impersonator, Lonnie Freeman. We also had a DJ, Wyatt Young, who was there to assist with music and announcing winners of the raffle baskets, which were gratefully donated from local partners. We ended the afternoon with our pie in the face contest featuring Faith Taylor, Amber Morgan, Eryn Williams, Kendal Schwarz, and Katie Chaplin. We had a great turn out this year and everyone had so much fun. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped make this event wonderful! 💜☀️

Meet Malinda! ⭐

Malinda is an LPN and has been a part of our Altercare team for almost 9 years. To ensure that she provides the best possible care to the residents, she makes sure to talk to the residents, allowing her to notice the small things as well as concerns or changes. When asked what advice she would give to someone who is just starting their career in healthcare, she stated, “Treat them as you would your own family. Get to know them!”

Malinda and her husband, Michael, have a big family! She has four daughters, 10 grandchildren, and another one on the way. In her free time, she likes to spend time with family and craft. A fun fact about Malinda is that she can ride a dirt bike.

“I choose Altercare because I care about my residents and want to provide them a safe and caring environment.”
