March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about one of the most common yet highly preventable cancers.
Colorectal cancer often develops silently, with few or no symptoms in its early stages. The good news is that screening can detect precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer, making it one of the most effective tools we have for prevention.
✔️ Screening is recommended starting at age 45 for most adults.
✔️ People with a family history or higher risk may need to start earlier.
✔️ Screening options include colonoscopy, stool-based tests, and other approved methods.
Early detection saves lives. When colorectal cancer is found early, the 5-year survival rate is about 90%.
This month, take a moment to:
• Talk with your healthcare provider about screening
• Encourage loved ones to get screened
• Learn the signs and symptoms
Screening isn’t just detection, it’s prevention.
