I found this helpful since summer has increased exposure to many different things for our kiddos and their safety is our number one priority!

Summer is a magical time filled with exploration and adventures. But it's also a perfect opportunity to reinforce safety communication with your kids.

Here's a tip: Teach your child the difference between 'Safe' and 'Not Safe' situations and how to ask for help when needed. It could be as simple as learning to say, "I need help, please!" Practice this with role-play scenarios at home. Just telling kids about safety isn't enough; they need to understand and remember it.

Remember, repetition is key. The more your child practices these conversations, the more natural they'll become.

For speech to take place, information must travel from the brain to the mouth, guiding the muscles to produce sounds. In the case of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), this communication is disrupted, resulting in incorrect transmission of messages.

A child with CAS possesses the understanding of what they wish to express, but struggles with the brain's instructions to coordinate intricate movements of the mouth. This challenge makes it hard for the child to synchronize the formation of sounds into syllables, syllables into words, and words into phrases.

Parents often wonder what the next step is after their child begins to say single words. Children typically start combining words between 2 and 3 years old while many start sooner. You can look at your child’s age to see how how many words they should be combing. To combine words, your child needs to have a variety of single words already in their vocabulary including nouns, verbs, adjectives and prepositions. Call with questions!
