Did you know that when the eye gets more myopic (nearsighted) the eye also gets longer? When the prescription gets too high and the eye gets too long, there is a higher risk of conditions like retinal detachment.

We measure the length of the eye also known as axial length on all of our myopia management patients at . This measurement is super important when determining if myopia management treatment is working for your child!

Did you know that myopia (nearsightedness) progresses most rapidly during the preschool and early elementary school years?

Some signs to look for:
- squinting when looking at distance objects
- holding items such as books or iPads close to their face; sitting closer to the tv
- complaining of headaches

However, not all kids show symptoms of myopia. Take action and schedule a yearly eye exam for your child to help slow down myopia in its tracks.

This week, I’m taking the pledge to cut 2 hours of screen time and add 1 hour of outdoor time each day—to protect my eyes and raise awareness. Join me in seeing a clearer future!

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 🌱

We want to highlight some of our favorite brands that are doing their part to improve our planet every day.

👓 Eco Eyewear plants a tree for every frame purchased. They have planted over 3.8 million trees that are cleaning out more CO2 than the production of their eyewear creates, making them carbon negative. Pretty cool!

🌊 CooperVision makes some of our favorite contact lenses. They are committed to plastic neutrality and have prevented the equivalent of half a billion plastic bottles from entering our oceans!

♻️ We participate in Bausch & Lomb’s Terracycle recycling program. We can recycle all of your soft contact lenses, blister packs and foils! Ask us for a box and drop off any time. We will take care of the rest.
