Meet Beverly, aka “Bookmark Bev,” one of our incredible residents at Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews, whose passion for reading has inspired thousands. 💌 For more than 20 years, Bev has handcrafted one-of-a-kind bookmarks, sparked by a personal mission that began when her grandson was diagnosed with dyslexia. She even has two of her bookmarks at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C., on permanent exhibit. What began as a local effort in Louisville schools has grown into a global act of kindness, as her bookmarks have now reached children around the world. Just take a look at the photo; the red dots on the map show all the places where Bev’s bookmarks have found a home. 🌍📌 To Bev, reading is more than a skill; it’s a lifelong gift. 🎁📚❤️

September is Fall Prevention Month, and we’re proud to spotlight our partners at Rise by HealthPro Heritage, who work closely with our Belmont Village Senior Living Lincoln Park community. 🤝 One inspiring story comes from Charles, a Belmont Village resident who arrived unable to walk and reliant on others for daily activities. Through his determination and the dedicated support of our therapy team, Charles has regained his independence—now confidently walking with his walker and managing many of his daily activities on his own. 🚶‍♂️💪

At Belmont Village, fall prevention is about more than safety—it’s about helping our residents restore balance, confidence, and the ability to live life to the fullest. ❤️

Our Director of Resident Care Services, Cynthia M., recently gave family members a chance to dump a bucket of water on her head in an effort to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Unfortunately for Cynthia, many were quite successful and hit their target with ease. 😆😁😂

Today, on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we honor the bravery and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. More than 16 million Americans answered the call to serve—including Dr. Randolph Scheen, now 100 years old, a proud U.S. Navy Seabee and resident of Belmont Village Senior Living St. Matthews.

As a young man, Dr. Scheen landed on the beaches of Iwo Jima in 1945, showing courage during one of the war’s most pivotal and harrowing battles. His service, and that of all who served, continues to inspire us today. 🙏❤️

As students head back to school, so do our residents, thanks to our partnerships with leading nationwide universities including UC Berkeley, UCLA and Rice University - Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Through interactive lesson plans, group activities and stimulating discussion prompts, our residents are embracing the same excitement and curiosity that younger generations experience during back-to-school season. We know that intellectual engagement is just as vital to well-being as staying active and socially connected. That’s why, together with our university partners, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning, intergenerational connections, and community engagement. 💡

In honor of World Senior Citizen's Day, we are spotlighting the powerful role our residents are playing in shaping, inspiring, and enriching the world around them. 🌎✨ Each year, our Belmont Blooms campaigns encourage residents to explore sustainability through creative, community-focused initiatives, ranging from farm-to-table dining and upcycling projects to sustainable fashion shows. Our Belmont Blooms campaign really focuses on deepened connections and raised awareness of older adults’ roles in giving back and shaping their local communities. We are grateful to our incredible staff and residents who continue to make a difference each year. 🌟🏆💕

Happy National Couples Day! 💕✨ Today, we’re celebrating Jan & Otto, one of our beautiful couples who found love at our Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway community three years ago where their love story began in Bible Study. From reading scripture together to staying fit, they share a deep bond, and one of their favorite traditions is color coordinating their outfits every day! Jan and Otto's love story reminds us that finding love and creating special moments are timeless. 🥂💖

Today, we honor Vincent L., one of our incredible Belmont Village Senior Living Fort Lauderdale residents, whose dedication shaped generations of future leaders. From 1969 to 1988, he served as Chairman of the U.S. Naval Academy Committee for Accreditation of Engineering Programs. His leadership established and maintained nationally accredited programs that continue to uphold excellence at the Academy.

We celebrated a century of an extraordinary life-Dorothy’s 100th birthday. 🎉 She has lived through ten decades of change and progress, and yet she has remained a steady, loving presence in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Many friends and family came to honor her, even the Buffalo Grove Village President! Cheers to 100 years! ❤️
