Towel-Assisted Cervical Mobilization
Basic Movements
Traction: Slowly pull upward at a slight angle to create gentle lengthening in the cervical spine.
Flexion & Extension: Move the towel to guide the head forward (chin to chest) or backward (gentle tilt).
Lateral Flexion: Tilt the head slowly toward the left or right shoulder while supporting with the towel.
Rotation: Guide the head to look side to side without forcing movement.
Therapist Tips
Keep your movements slow, controlled, and within the client’s pain-free range.
Always check in with the client about pressure and comfort.
Avoid sudden or strong pulling — it’s about gentle mobilization, not manipulation.
Use your body weight, not just arm strength, to reduce strain on yourself.
