In order to get a mammogram, you need a referral from a primary care provider. But what if you don't have a primary care provider?

No worries - we are here to help:

If you need help finding a primary care provider, contact your local hospital or clinic and ask to establish primary care with a physician. Alternatively, you can call 311 to find out how to get medical or dental care at a public hospital, child health clinic, or community health clinic. You can also use the document attached here of resources in the Buffalo area or contact Erie County Cancer Services Program at (716) 858-7376 or The National Witness Project at (716) 845-3383.

Have you considered whether you are at risk for breast cancer?

If not, you can find more information from the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/basic_info/risk_factors.htm).

This webpage is a great resource for understanding the average risk of developing breast cancer. Regardless of these risks, we still encourage you to discuss this topic with a primary care provider and discuss when the most appropriate time to undergo screening is.

Did you know that if you live in Erie County but do not have health insurance, you can still get a mammogram for free? Doing so is easier than you'd think.

All you have to do is contact the Erie County Cancer Services Program (https://www3.erie.gov/cancerservices/breast) or call (716) 858-7376. If you want to know more, check out our website, ucare4u.org, and watch the interactive video.

We are elated to announce that TODAY we have launched our interactive video on ucare4u.org!

Please head over to the website when you have the opportunity: check out the video and, if you are interested, take the survey and provide any feedback you have to us.

And please spread the word about this to friends, family, and community members. Awareness is key and we want everyone to know the importance of breast cancer screening and how to obtain a mammogram and other necessary services in the Buffalo area.

We are now days away from the launch of our interactive video on our website ucare4u.org! Our goal in launching this video is to help empower women to take control of their health -- to do this, we have compiled resources on breast cancer screening in the Buffalo area to help you get a mammogram, except without the added stress.

In the meantime, please spread the word to friends, family, and others. If this topic is important to you, talk to them about it. Together we can increase both awareness of breast cancer screening and early detection.

Your opinion matters to us in the fight against breast cancer. When the video is released, we encourage you to watch it, participate in the survey, and express your thoughts on how best to serve the Buffalo community.
