Synergy Bariatrics, began its journey in 2000. As the pioneer in bariatric surgery in Western New York, Synergy Bariatrics, began its journey in 2000.

Under the direction and ownership of Dr. Joseph Caruana, Synergy took pride in being the first local center to offer complete pre- and post-surgical care. In 2014, we began performing our bariatric procedures at Erie County Medical Center eventually going on to become an official Department of the Hospital in 2015.

We continue to strive for excellence. To our knowledge we are the only program i

n the area that offers truly comprehensive care with on-site physicians, physician assistants, clinical pharmacist, registered dietitian, and eating behavior specialist.

Synergy Bariatrics has received the highest level of accreditation as a Comprehensive Center through the American College of Surgeons' Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program. We are also a designated Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery.
