The Neill's had some family visitors today! The youngest is 7 months old and adorable. Visiting loved ones in the nursing home is the best thing a family can do. Thank you!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We had our resident party on Christmas Eve morning and everybody had a good time.

OBI blood drive here at the nursing home on January 5th. 9a.m. to noon. Call to make an appointment or drop ins are welcome as well. GIVE HOPE T-shirts are being given to donors.

December 16 marked Carmen Mata Ruiz, aka Carmela's, 31st anniversary at Western. She began her journey in the laundry and dietary departments (when it was Grace Living Center) during high school for 2 years part time until she graduated. She then had to step up as the family's primary provider when her father passed away. She became a Certified Nurse's Aid and has been dedicated to working the floor, caring for our residents ever since. Much has changed since then; we used to have over 50 residents and, of course, more staff. Carmela notes that employees are generally more reliable now and show up for their 12-hour shifts. Initially, she juggled 8-hour shifts while completing her high school education. Always a committed employee, she took her family responsibilities to heart. With high standards, she strives to do everything correctly. Thank you, Carmela Mata, for your dedication to Western Skilled Nursing & Therapy! You have cared for and loved many of our community and family members. Her joys in life include family: her mother, siblings, children, and a grandbaby that she adores. She is a member of the Catholic Church and helps with fundraising, attending services when she can. She's the type of person who has high standards and integrity. She has high expectations for others as well, and she will call anyone out if they aren't meeting her standards. We are proud to work beside her, with her, and call her our friend.
