Yoga for Arthritis is an evidence informed practice based on research conducted at John Hopkins University. Yoga for Arthritis has been found to be a safe and effective program that improves mobility, flexibility and strength for those with arthritis. Arthritis is one of the leading causes of disability in the US.

Having arthritis myself, I am grateful to have taken this course and to share with others.

I am currently teaching classes at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, Brookdale Assisted Living and private sessions.

We are living in a time of harsh realities where injustice, violence and uncertainty can feel constant. It is natural to feel overwhelmed, heartbroken or even helpless in the face of so much suffering.
I have been turning to my yoga and meditation practice for support. Yoga and meditation does not erase these truths, but the practices offer a way to steady the ground within ourselves. Through mindful presence we are better equipped to meet the challenges of the world with clarity, compassion and resilience.
Meditation can help us tune inward, breathe and anchor ourselves in the present moment, not to escape reality but to strengthen our capacity and respond with awareness and care. It is so important now more than ever to treat ourselves and others with kindness, compassion and empathy.

Some Benefits of Meditation:

*reduced stress and anxiety

*improved focus and concentration

*better emotional regulation

*increased self-awareness

*improved sleep

There are many different types of meditation and ways to meditate. Try experimenting with different types to find out what resonates best with you.

Mindfulness Meditation- Involves observing thoughts, feelings and sensations without judgement, fostering awareness of the present moment.

Focused Meditation- Directs attention to a specific object, like the breath, sound or visualization to improve concentration

Movement Meditation- Combines physical movement with mindfulness such as yoga, Tai Chi or walking to connect the body and mind.

There is also mantra meditation, body-scan meditation, loving-kindness, guided and Yoga Nidra meditation.
It is recommended to start out slow, maybe just a minute or two and then build more time into your practice. I like Insight Timer which offers a free app and has all different types of meditation - Insight Timer

Happy August!
And exciting news~ Quiet Harvest retreat early bird registration is now open!

Jessie and I are so excited to be offering another retreat and early registration is now open!
I hope to see familiar faces and some new faces at our next retreat. This will be our third retreat and we would love to share this welcoming, accessible, relaxing and nurturing experience with you!!

Summer heat is here ๐Ÿ”ฅ which can make some of us feel aggravated or unsettled.
I made this blend to help keep cool and calm on a hot day like today!

Lavender- calming, soothing and cooling for excess pitta (when you have too much heat).
Peppermint- helps clear the mind, is cooling to pitta, supports movement of breath.
You can use this blend in a diffuser or dilute in a carrier oil for skin application.

*Another great way to use aromatherapy to help cool down is to use a peppermint or lavender hydrosol, place in the fridge and mist as needed.

We will be using this blend tonight at gentle yoga

Happy first day of summer!!
My favorite time of year โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

After much consideration I have decided that I will be taking a break from community classes for July/August at the Harlem Rd Community center. I will still be teaching at the Amherst Senior Center throughout the summer.

I am available for private yoga sessions and health & wellness coaching, all under offerings on my website. If you havenโ€™t done so already, sign up for my newsletter to keep in touch.
