“𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝.”

“Made up disorder.”
“Generation of pansies.”
“People give up too easily.”

Those are the actual words trolls threw at one of my posts when I explained that forcing a child into school is trauma.

And let me set the record straight:

If you 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 think forcing a child through trauma is “strength” - you’re wrong.

If you think dismissing disability as “psycho-babble” makes it vanish - you’re wrong.

If you think parents should be shamed into compliance then guess what - you’re wrong.

What these comments really show is how much ignorance is still out there. And why voices like ours are needed more than ever.

Because here’s the truth:

Children don’t thrive through force.
Parents don’t learn through blame.
And no - compassion doesn’t create weakness. It creates safety.

If you’ve heard any of these lines aimed at you, drop a ❤️ below - let’s flood this space with lived experience louder than the trolls.

And for parents and professionals who want support for students struggling with emotionally-based school avoidance then please drop the word EBSA below and I will send you a sign up link to some FREE DOWNLOADS.

It's ok if your kiddo gets his special things as Christmas presents. Sweet tea, a box of glass wipes for cleaning his electronics, and of course all things turtle. It might not look like everyone else, and that's ok..

Things people take for granted. Great Clips is the only place Silus will agree to get his hair cut. He used to be so consistent on a hair cut, every 4 weeks. He took a risk, and grew his hair out! He was so proud, he waited to get his school picture taken with his shaggy hair. Yesterday, we had planned on going to Great Clips. I saw a post that they had closed down for good....wHaT?!?!?! Saturday morning, it was clear they are closed. No online check in.

We bribed him with his favorite supper 2 nights in a row, and Aunt Kimmy to the rescue! He watched Lemmy go first, and didn't have a great expression, but he was brave and did it! I would even say he liked it better! A year ago, we wouldn't have been able to make this work. So thankful for the growth he has had! And thankful for Aunt Kimmy! Kimberly Dawn Wienke

Augh! Makes so much sense! I can never get Silus to wear headphones, or use his speech to text at school, etc.
