Our primary emphasis is on efficiency and how it impacts the profitability of the cow herd and the feeder. We’ve invested in the technology to measure intake and efficiency and have the largest herd of efficiency measured and selected Angus Cattle. McDonnell Angus Ranch is founded deep in the world of performance. was one of the founding pioneers in performance testing and measuring traits that make a bottom-line difference to ranchers, feeders, and the industry. He established Midland Bull Test which is now in its 3rd generation of family operation with our son, Steve Williams, at the helm. Recently our family was honored at the Beef Improvement Federation with a Pioneer Award. The award was received after 50 years of dedication to performance. Through those years our family was one of the first to ultrasound for carcass traits (starting in 1969), measure scrotal size, and has now become the largest privately owned system for measuring feed intake and beef cattle efficiency. We invite you to see the herd and visit with us. Midland Bull Test is located in Columbus, Montana and our cattle herds are located in Columbus, Montana, western Montana, and ranch is found in Rhame, North Dakota (the south end of the Dakota Badlands). We have spring herds in Hamilton, Fall calving herd in McKenzie, ND and now since the drought some cows were moved to Kansas.
