Join us in celebrating Alexander Kelly on an incredible milestone! After more than 5 years with AMR Western New York serving our community as an EMT-B, Alex has officially earned his paramedic certification and we couldn’t be prouder!

Inspired by a family deeply rooted in fire service and emergency response, Alex followed his passion into EMS and continues to build a career centered on service. Looking ahead, he hopes to keep doing what he loves most: caring for patients in the field and working toward becoming a SWAT medic.

Alex’s advice for those just starting out in EMS says it all: “Never stop learning. Remember that helping people counts as an accomplishment and it’s one to be proud of.”

What does he love most about his job? Serving a community that knows and trusts their local EMS providers.

We couldn’t agree more, Alex. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the communities we serve. Congratulations on this well-earned achievement!

Congratulations to our new class of paramedics! 🚑

Meet Lillianna Herr, a newly certified paramedic and proud member of the AMR Western New York team! Lillianna has been with AMR for more than three years, serving as a resilient first responder and valued team player for the Western New York community.

Her inspiration to pursue a career in EMS began at just 15 years old after being introduced to a rural volunteer department by her mom. That experience sparked a lifelong passion and taught her an important lesson she still carries today: no matter how long you’ve been on the job, there is always more to learn!

Lillianna now shares that same advice with others interested in EMS and she’s already made unforgettable memories along the way. Her favorite so far?

"I delivered two healthy babies - one boy and one girl. It was the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done while working at AMR WNY.”

We know this is just the beginning of many more incredible moments, memories and lives touched. Congratulations, Lillianna!

Every trip during severe weather increases the risk of crashes and delays emergency response times, and we want to keep YOU safe.

Several men and women at AMR Western New York simultaneously took on the challenge of paramedic school and we are proud to honor them. Today, we begin by celebrating Maya Bernstein!

To Maya, EMS providers are often the first point of contact in moments of crisis and the bridge between patients and the healthcare system.

"We are more than responders,” she shares. “We are advocates, educators and listeners.”

That service-led mindset shines when Maya looks ahead: “I see myself on the truck, working to create better access to healthcare for both providers and patients. I want to help change the culture, so illnesses of all types aren’t hidden but openly addressed and supported.”

Maya’s perspective has been shaped by powerful experiences - from solo travel in Belize to watching students she trained step confidently into their own EMS careers. Guided by the wisdom of her father and fueled by a genuine desire to do good, Maya has already shared unforgettable moments in the field and has made her impact on AMR.
