- Warm up by the fire with a homemade decaf cappuccino using any plant-based or non fat milk you prefer.

It's starting to get Chili out, the Bills are playing, and it's time to make a fall favorite! 🍂🏈

Try out this one-pot Vegetarian Chili recipe on Sunday and save it in the fridge for the remainder of the week... if it lasts that long.

- Substitute that high-fat & cholesterol packed ground beef for fiber-rich and protein packed kidney beans and lentils.
- Ladle it over brown rice, a baked potato, or even whole wheat pasta.
- Top it with plain non-fat Greek yogurt and non-fat cheddar cheese for a more traditional taste.

Want something simple, yet so'fish'ticated? Try our Pan-Seared Lemon Salmon over a bed of Wild Rice blend! 🐟🌊

- Salmon is rich in many beneficial nutrients including omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA), vitamin B12, and selenium to name a few.
- Coat on your favorite no-salt seasoning or blend your own using your favorite herbs and spices such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, and dried basil.

- No-Bake Brownie Bites & Mint Chocolate Chip Nice Cream -

- The base of the 'Nice' Cream is frozen banana, which limits the high fat content seen in traditional ice cream.
- The oats found in the Brownie Bites increases our fiber intake towards our daily goal of 25g (women) and 38g (men).
- Pure matcha powder and 100% cacao powder boost our antioxidant intake to assist in mitigating free radical damage.

This week in Cooking Class 🍽 we dished up two fast and healthy breakfast meals! - Banana Pancakes & Oatmeal Supreme -

- The high fiber content in the oats and whole wheat flour will keep you satiated until a mid-morning snack or lunch.
- Soluble fiber that is found in oats, legumes, and some fruits and vegetables has been shown to reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream, decreasing your LDL (bad) cholesterol.
- Play around with your favorite fruits, including pears, raspberries, or strawberries!

📢 NEW ANNOUNCEMENT! 📢

We are very excited to introduce Phase 3 of the Intensive Cardiac Rehab program at Sterling Heart Care on June 14th, 2021. This will consist of 6 weeks (15 sessions) of moderate/high intensity small group exercise sessions.

Classes are supervised with a 3:1 patient to clinician ratio by our Exercise Physiologist, Lakshay Sharma, and DJ Mazzoni, RD, CSCS with EKG/Telemetry monitoring, if needed.

Time slots - 4:30pm to 5:15pm & 5:30pm to 6:15pm (to be filled once 4:30pm session is at full capacity).

This week is everybody's favorite... Snacks! Consisting of Sweet Potato Tuna Bites, No-Bake Peanut Butter Energy Bites, and Cinnamon Energy Bites.

- The Peanut Butter and Cinnamon Bites are higher density foods, so remember to consume them in moderation.

- If you dislike tuna, try an alternative like a chickpea or black bean spread / hummus or even low-fat chicken salad.

- Peanut butter powder is much lower in fat and still retains about 6g protein in 2 Tbsp. A great addition to oatmeal, smoothies...etc.

- Homemade mashed potatoes allows you to limit the typically high sodium and fat content while simultaneously adding healthy vegetables like spinach.

- Carrying balsamic vinegar as a staple in your pantry will allow you the versatility of a coating for roasted vegetables or as a dressing for your salad.
