Amy Hartl, LMT, CMLDT, Massage Therapy for Women Licensed/Board Certified Massage Therapist, Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist. Focusing

Drawn to massage therapy by my desire to serve others and a fascination with the body’s intrinsic beauty, I use a client-centered approach to treat you as a whole person while addressing your individual needs. It is my belief that all individuals have the ability to benefit from therapeutic massage and have practiced in settings ranging from wellness centers to hospitals to home care. Through my t

raining and thorough communication, I work with each client to determine individual session goals and, when appropriate, incorporate them into a larger treatment plan, all the while remembering that every person is more than just the body they inhabit. In addition to integrative Swedish and Deep Tissue therapeutic massage I have experience with Oncology Massage, Scar Tissue Mobilization, Strain/Counterstrain, Pregnancy/Prenatal Massage, and Massage for the Medically Frail/Complex Medical Conditions. I began practicing in 2012 and hold ~1700 hours of academic and practical training in addition to my hands on professional work. I am Board Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and hold active licenses to practice in New York and Virginia. Originally from Virginia, I moved to Buffalo in 2014 and love my new northern home. Local family roots for both myself and my husband inspired our move and experiencing Buffalo and Western New York’s exciting resurgence is a source of joy and pride. Beyond the boundaries of our every day world, we love to travel and explore the world at large.

My Story

As a BRCA1+ woman with a long family history of breast and ovarian cancers, I felt drawn to working with people in the cancer community as soon as I entered the massage therapy field. The fact that men and women can find comfort and relief in their bodies through touch during a time when so much is beyond their control is still inspiring to me even well into my career. I have learned a lot from my clients on how to be with someone experiencing a life threatening illness. Those lessons were never more important than when I received my own breast cancer diagnosis in 2017. Through a double mastectomy, reconstruction, chemotherapy, and beyond, I am learning how to navigate life after cancer for myself and for those I work with. Having a patient’s perspective in addition to my formal training helps me relate to my clients in a unique way and I am humbled by every person who allows me into their journey.
