Navigating cancer or survivorship during the holiday season can be tough, as both heaviness and joy often exist at the same time.

This is your reminder to give yourself permission to rest when you need to, change and adjust your plans, and protect your peace this season and beyond ❤️

From survival to renewed meaning: Meet Teleah ✨

After a difficult season of life in 2018, Teleah moved from Western New York to Atlanta, Georgia, determined to rebuild a new life. But amid that fresh start, life threw an unexpected curve ➖ a diagnosis of Myxopapillary Ependymoma, a rare neuroendocrine cancer that had been quietly growing for some time. In 2020, after denying the truth for a while, Teleah finally turned to Roswell Park & the YA Program for help.

The removal of a spinal tumor — one that nearly took her legs and changed so much more — marked both an ending and a beginning. From there, Teleah launched a thriving media company between Buffalo and Atlanta, earning recognition and success. But behind the achievements came the realization that success can’t replace true healing.

Teleah learned all too well that cancer takes more than just someone’s health. It takes time, money, clarity, and sometimes, hope. After facing those losses head-on, Teleah chose to rebuild once again. This time, she was not chasing fame and fortune but rather focusing her energy on things that bring love, hope, and peace to all involved. In October 2025, she launched a wedding business — a company devoted to designing experiences of love, hope, and genuine connection. 💒

Through this journey, Teleah learned that rebuilding after cancer isn’t just about survival — it’s about rediscovering meaning. Healing isn’t found in fame or reinvention, but in truth, compassion, and the courage to start again. She hopes that others recovering from cancer treatment think of healing as both a physical and soulful journey from the start 🩵🩵

Teleah’s message is a powerful reminder that cancer doesn’t ‘end’ when treatment is over; rather it becomes a lifelong journey of healing all aspects of yourself - physically, emotionally, spiritually, & mentally. ❤️‍🩹

November is National Caregiver Month, and our members wanted to share their appreciation for these important people in their lives ➖ check out Amanda’s story about her friend & caregiver, Stacy ⬇️

Before her diagnosis, Amanda often found herself confiding in her best friend Stacy about her symptoms and growing frustrations. Stacy continuously encouraged Amanda to keep pushing for answers and to advocate for herself. After countless appointments that led nowhere, Amanda finally requested imaging and just a few weeks later, she received the diagnosis: Tall Cell Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma.

From that day forward, Stacy’s role shifted from best friend to caregiver. She stood by Amanda’s side through hospital stays, treatments, and recovery. Stacy stayed with her day and night, making sure she was cared for, comforted, and never alone. Stacy has been the true definition of a caregiver for Amanda— and her unwavering support has meant everything 🩵

Through the Young Adult Program, Amanda has been able to make so many meaningful connections and grow her support network. Amanda and Stacy have even had the chance to attend events together, as the YA Program welcomes caregivers to take part in many activities and events.

We also need to celebrate an exciting milestone, as Amanda marked two years since finishing her radiation treatment this past October - congrats Amanda!!! 🔔

Give both Amanda and Stacy some love in the comments for showing us what true friendship is all about!

From Two Time Mom to Survivor: Meet Audrey 🌸🌸

Just one month after celebrating her youngest daughter’s first birthday, Audrey faced the unthinkable: what she believed was a clogged duct turned out to be stage III breast cancer.

Like many young adults, she had imagined how she might support a loved one with cancer—but never expected to be the one receiving the diagnosis herself.

Through months of chemotherapy, surgeries, and radiation, Audrey leaned on her loved ones for strength. Their support became a vital source of hope and resilience through the hardest moments. 💪🏻 Finding the Young Adult program also allowed her to connect with others in both a similar stage of life and circumstance, and helped her feel seen, understood, and far less alone.

Now on the other side of active treatment, Audrey continues to move forward with the strength of her community behind her—and a reminder that even in the hardest chapters, connection makes all the difference. 💖

📣 As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, this is a reminder that this disease continues to persist beyond October. Every day, individuals just like Audrey are facing diagnosis, undergoing treatment, and navigating survivorship. It’s crucial that we continue to share their stories and extend our support throughout the entire year, and that is exactly what the Young Adult Program provides for our patients and survivors! 🩵🩵

Connection, community and coffee ☕

Some of our young adult members came together on a rainy night this past week for a warm and welcoming coffee hour — a chance to share stories, meet new friends, and support one another through shared experiences.

Moments like these remind us that sometimes the most powerful support comes from sitting together, sharing life updates, and finding comfort in community.

If you or someone you know (ages 18-39) is facing a cancer diagnosis and could benefit from events like this, send us a DM — we're here for you.
