Casey, one of the people in our Self-Directed Services Program, has a new hobby – autograph collecting. Lynn, Casey’s Self-Directed Assistant, helps him draft letters to people asking for signatures. Casey includes a photo of himself for people to sign and return and a self-addressed stamped envelope with every request.

Casey and Lynn had fun creating a list of people to ask and keeping track of who has responded. Through his new hobby, Casey has learned patience and organizational skills.

He is also thrilled with each new piece of mail he receives, especially when it comes from a Buffalo Bills player! “Casey was over the moon happy,” said Lynn.

Community Services for Every1 was awarded a $500,000 grant to support survivors of domestic violence. This grant establishes the Flexible Aid for Survivors in Transition (FAST) Fund, which will provide immediate, individualized financial assistance to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, with a focus on supporting survivors with disabilities in Erie and Niagara counties.

We want to thank the NYS Office on Violence Against Women for this grant which will provide rapid, survivor-centered assistance which will advance personal outcomes related to safety, stability, and recovery.

Chris, a person from our Intensive Respite Program, got to enjoy some blues, jazz and rock music, courtesy of the owners of Matt’s Music in Tonawanda. Owners Kathy and Steve, along with their talented band, put on an incredible performance that brought many smiles to the crowd.

The whole room clapped, danced, and sang along with these incredible musicians- including Chris, who let his guard down long enough to share a few grins of his own.

We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity of Matt’s Music and look forward to returning for future performances!

Alley Cats Bowling League, part of one of our Group Day Habilitations, celebrated another successful season filled with teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs at their league banquet. Each bowler received an official league t-shirt and a certificate celebrating their efforts and accomplishments.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff for their support, dedication, and the warm atmosphere that allowed our league to thrive.

Thank you also to the Community Services Support Foundation which provided funding through a mini grant to support the team and their celebration.

Community Services for Every1 employees braved the icy waters of Lake Erie during the Polar Bear Plunge WNY at Woodlawn Beach State Park. Many of our 11 brave plungers wore yellow shirts with “J4J” (Jumping in for Jeffery) in memory of Jeffery from Lake IRA. On the back of their shirts, they put one of Jeffery’s favorite sayings, “Whoopie”.

Shout Out to Mallory Wattie from Lake IRA who led the team in donations, and special acknowledgment of Jade Bouvier (Southwestern IRA) and Lisa Hall (Humphrey Day Hab) on their second year of taking the plunge!

This year, team “Community Shivering for Every1,” raised $2,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics New York.

Thank you to all our plungers, donors, and to members of our residential leadership team who came out to cheer for them.

Generous businesses and individuals stepped up once again this year to help fulfill the Christmas wish lists of families in need who receive services from our agency as part of our Adopt a Family campaign.

Earlier this month, donors dropped off numerous presents for their families which ended up lining the hallways of our agency. All the gifts were delivered to the many happy families who had something to unwrap on Christmas morning.

We are so grateful to all the donors and volunteers that helped make this campaign a success! Thank you!
