March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and investing in the capabilities of individuals with developmental disabilities. While this month focuses on individuals with developmental disabilities, it's essential to collectively sustain efforts throughout the year to foster a more inclusive environment for all. This includes advocating for accessibility and amplifying discussions that prioritize the needs of those with developmental disabilities.

We encourage everyone to be part of raising awareness, fostering empowerment, and affecting change within your community. When people of diverse abilities unite to offer support and understanding, our collective well-being flourishes.

DSPs are essential to the I/DD community, and they need our support. That's why we're calling on New York legislators to expand workforce support for childcare, healthcare, and housing. A little extra help can make a world of difference!

Contact your NY government representative using this form email and phone script: https://nydisabilityadvocates.com/ and support New Yorkers with disabilities.

Staff at our Oak Street location were treated to sweet Valentines Day goodies as part of a cafe pop-up run by students from our Pre-Employment Training Services Program.

The students designed the menu, baked and decorated all the treats, and served them with love to customers of the café. The event provided the students the opportunity to gain confidence and practice their hospitality skills. Great work to the students!

Cody, one of our Intensive Support Respite program participants, enjoyed a visit to the Buffalo Zoo. On this visit, he chose to spend most of his time with his favorite animals: the giraffes! Cody loves animals and even has several pets he helps care for at home.

Thanks to the support and one-on-one guidance from our Intensive Support Supervisor, Paul, Cody was able to take this memorable and enjoyable outing.
