✨ Testimony Tuesday ✨

Today we’re showing love to two amazing women, Njeri and Chinelle 💛💜

Your dedication, compassion, and consistency speak for themselves. The way you show up for families—with patience, knowledge, and genuine care—creates safe, empowering spaces for every client you serve.

Because of you, mothers feel heard.
Because of you, families feel supported.
Because of you, the journey into parenthood feels a little more grounded and a lot more cared for.

We appreciate you both for the heart you pour into this work every single day. Your impact is real, and it matters.

Happy Monday ✨

A new week means new opportunities, fresh energy, and another chance to move closer to what’s meant for you. No matter how last week felt, today is a reset.

Take it one step at a time. Stay grounded, stay focused, and don’t let anything shake what you’re building. Even small progress is still progress.

Walk into this week with purpose, peace, and a mindset that says: I’ve got this.

Let’s roll 💫

This year, we’re honored to welcome Kelly Marie Wofford as our keynote speaker. 🎤

Kelly brings powerful insight, lived experience, and a passion for supporting families that aligns deeply with our mission. Her voice will help guide meaningful conversation around maternal health, advocacy, and care.

🌟 Kelly Marie Wofford is a public health leader, mental health and wellness advocate, podcaster, and birth doula dedicated to advancing health equity and empowering individuals to live with intention and resilience. She serves as the inaugural Director of the Office of Health Equity for the Erie County Department of Health, where she leads initiatives focused on addressing health disparities, strengthening community partnerships, and improving health outcomes for marginalized communities across Erie County. 🌟

Kelly Marie is also the founder of Front Seat Life, LLC, a platform centered on mental health awareness, mindfulness, and personal empowerment. Through this work she serves as a mental health and wellness advocate, hosts a podcast, and facilitates conversations and workshops that help individuals navigate stress, trauma, and everyday life with greater awareness and resilience.

In addition, she is a New York State certified birth and postpartum doula supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, with a focus on compassionate, culturally responsive care. Kelly Marie is also an ordained elder at Impacting Love Global Ministries, where she integrates faith, healing, and community care into her broader commitment to wellness and equity.

We are also currently welcoming vendors and sponsors who want to be part of this impactful event. If you’re interested in connecting with families and supporting this work.

🤎🖤Black Maternal Health Week may be ending, but our work is not!

At Calming Nature, we are building for the future.
Not just for today’s families, but for the next generation and every generation that follows.

We are intentionally building systems of care that center families, protect mothers, and create real pathways to better outcomes. At the same time, we are actively working to break down the systemic racism that continues to impact maternal health in our communities.

And let’s be clear!!
Not everyone claiming to support this work is doing so with integrity. Some benefit from the very systems that harm our communities and contribute to the disparities and poor health outcomes.

Some show up for
💥The funding,
💥The recognition,
💥The spotlight,
but not for the accountability, the hard conversations, or the work required to dismantle the problem.

This week is about building something better.
This is about creating systems that will truly support families long after this week, and this moment passes.

Happy Black Maternal Health Week!

This is powerful and necessary 💛

A recent feature by Buffalo Healthy Living Magazine highlights how community-based, Black-led doula care is helping advance Black maternal health right here in our community.

Black women continue to face higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth—but culturally rooted, community-driven support like doula care is making a real difference. Doulas provide emotional, physical, and informational support while advocating for safer, more respectful birth experiences.

This work is about more than birth—it’s about equity, dignity, and ensuring our mothers and babies are supported, heard, and cared for.

We will continue to uplift, support, and stand in this work. Because every mother deserves safe, empowered, and compassionate care 🤎✨

Buffalo, NY – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States are preventable. Nationally, Black women are about three times more …

This Black Maternal Health Week, we honor the power of support, education, and community 🤎

Birth and postpartum doulas walk alongside families, offering emotional, physical, and informational support every step of the way. Breastfeeding peer support adds another layer of care—helping mothers feel seen, heard, and confident in their feeding journey.

Together, this work helps improve outcomes, uplift Black families, and create safer, more supported birth experiences.

You deserve care that listens. You deserve support that understands. You deserve to thrive.

🖤 The Silent Struggles of Black Mothers: A Call for Support & Healing.

🖤Being a mother is hard enough, but being a Black mother comes with its own unique set of challenges. From facing racial injustice to the constant pressure to be strong, Black mothers often carry a heavy load—one that’s rarely acknowledged or discussed.

🖤 The reality:
🕳Experiencing racial stress that weighs down your body and spirit, yet having to push through it for the sake of your family.

🕳Feeling isolated because the struggle is rarely talked about in a way that truly understands you.

🕳Not feeling safe or accepted when asking for help, often out of fear of being judged or misunderstood.

🕳It's okay to not always feel okay. Your mental health is just as important as your family's. Prioritize your peace, speak up when you're struggling, and lean on your community because we are here for you.

💬 Let’s normalize these conversations. Black mothers, your strength is unmatched, but remember: you deserve rest, care, and healing too.
