In honor of Black History Month, our Employee Assistance Program recently hosted a webinar titled "The Black Experience and the Systems We Inherit."

The conversation explored how historical structures were created, who they were designed to serve and how their impact continues to shape our communities today. It was a great opportunity to deepen our understanding of local history while reflecting on the role we each play in creating informed and accountable spaces.

This year’s theme — “Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.” — reflects the heart of our work at C+FS. Our mission is rooted in strengthening families, supporting individuals and building a safer, more resilient community. Our social workers bring that mission to life every single day.

We celebrate the unwavering commitment of social workers who make lasting change possible. Thank you for all that you do.

Did you know that planning for the future can also be a powerful way to support individuals in our community?

Having an IRA is a smart way to save for retirement, but when distributions begin, taxes follow. One meaningful option to consider is directing a gift from your IRA to Child and Family Services Foundation!

It’s a simple way to reduce the tax burden while making a lasting impact on the children and families we serve. If you’d like to learn more about giving through your IRA, visit the link below:

Today, domestic violence advocates, survivors and allies are calling on New York State lawmakers to step up for survivors and the programs that support them.

We invite our supporters to take action — call or email your NYS legislators and urge them to protect children, stand with survivors and invest in the domestic violence services our communities rely on.

On February 17th and 18th, 2026, we recognize a rare convergence as Lunar New Year, the beginning of Ramadan and the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday align.

Across each of these observances, one message rises above all: hopeful renewal. A reminder that change is possible, reflection is powerful and connection to family and faith can ground us in every season.

Well wishes to all who practice and observe!

This year’s Black History Month theme honors a Century of Black history Commemorations — marking the 100th anniversary of this important celebration.

As we reflect on the last 100 years, we see how Black History Month has evolved, from its start in 1926 as Negro History Week to the month-long national observance we recognize each February today.

Each milestone reflects the growing recognition of Black history, achievements and impact across our country.
