Hello, Bird’s Nest Family,

There’s no good way to do this, so I’ll do it as best I can. Classes are cancelled indefinitely, and the studio will be off-limits for the foreseeable future. Late Thursday night, there was an accident with the lift while a rigging adjustment was occurring. Our co-owner, Ashli Gilmour, has passed away as a result of her injuries from that accident. Katie Loewen was also hospitalized as a result of her injuries. I’m trying very hard to figure out all the right things to do in this situation, but there is no road map. I’ll keep trying to do the best I can to communicate with you as we make decisions about the future of the business. For now, though, please grieve and support the families of those involved in whatever way you can while recognizing that they may need time for themselves.

Static Trapeze 1 (90min) - 7/23 at 545
Tactical Technique - Augment your technique on static trapeze by learning the key concepts behind dynamic movement and fundamental drills designed to increase power and efficiency. Beneficial to any student, beginning or advanced.

Dance Trapeze for Trapezistas (90min) - 7/23 at 730
Take your trapeze skills to the next level and learn to move with confidence on a trapeze that spins, orbits and swings! This workshop will focus on spin technique and flow sequences that work well with orbiting, spinning, and swinging, in addition to single-point beat styles to add extra power and flourish to your movement.
Push your dynamic flow skills to the next level with complex beat styles both decorative and functional, and learn how to best link dynamic tricks into smooth, continuous movement.

Sling 1 Dynamic Theory (90min) - 7/24 at 545
In this workshop students will learn the techniques for executing smooth, effortless beats and dynamic tricks. Want consecutive elbow circles but don’t have them yet? Afraid to drop into ankle hang? Come to this workshop with any dynamic skill you’d like to troubleshoot and dive into the core of dynamic movement under a master technician’s eye.

“Dainty Beast” Sling Conditioning (1 hr) - 7/24 at 730
Hone your stamina and strength with streamlined sets of sling-based conditioning...soft but brutal!

Join us for this special low-flow jam, where all proceeds go to Evergreen Health and GLYS. This is open to all current students of any discipline at The Bird's Nest. Everything will be rigged low, about two feet off the ground. Silks will be available, but you're encouraged to stay close or even connected to the floor, same for pole. This is unstructured playtime, feel free to bounce around apparatuses, collaborate with others and get weird with it!

We'll also be emptying our lost and found!
Come claim your stuff or take home some new stuff!
Most of this has been around for months (or years!),
if anything remains afterward it will be donated to the City Mission.

“Originally from New Orleans, I am a dynamic circus artist specializing in Aerial Rope. My work combines technique & artistry to create imaginative & dynamic works across genres. While I love creating autonomously, I thrive in ensemble and creation with a group. My passions lie in the imagination, visceral expression, and connection. I earned my BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University in 2015, and have trained in physical theatre intensively & internationally. In 2019 I graduated from the ProTrack Program at the New England Center for Circus Arts. I am passionate, driven, and a visionary, always on the lookout for my next collaboration.
