📣PAs in Action!

Campbell PA students Lesley Chao and Pauline Bulala recently attended the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA)'s Leadership and Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C. The summit focuses on bringing PAs and PA students from across the United States to Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers about enhancing PA practice laws on the federal level. Alongside North Carolina PAs & students, Lesley and Pauline spoke with Congress about several bills that focused on expanding access to care, including H.R.1616: Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act – which would allow PAs and NPs to document and certify the need for diabetic shoes under Medicare, which currently requires a physician.

They also got to attend sessions that focused on fostering PA students' leadership and advocacy skills, specifically on how PA students can drive the profession forward through legislative advocacy.

🎉Of note, Pauline was recognized as one of five PA students across the United States who received a $2000 Michael Powe Leadership in Advocacy Scholarship, which recognizes student leaders who are committed to advocacy. Meanwhile, Lesley will continue her advocacy journey with AAPA by serving as one of 35 Student Delegates in the annual meeting of the House of Delegates (HOD), the AAPA's policymaking body, at the 2026 AAPA Conference.
