Reminder! Tomorrow, the river will be flowing at ½ unit from Davis Dam. We’re working with the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, Laughlin Chamber, and to organize a community-wide cleanup of the river shore during the low-flow event.
Shout out to Laughlin River Tours , Make Bullhead Better, , Western Arizona Regional Medical Center , the Community Emergency Response Team, Findlay Chevy GMC , and the Mohave County Department of Public Health for all dedicating teams to help clean up our river tomorrow! We’d also like to give another big thank you to the dozens of individuals who have contacted us to help.
There are many ways you can help out!
With a group:
If you’d like to clean up on the Laughlin side of the River, contact Carrie Larson, Executive Director of the Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, at 702-298-2214 or carrie@laughlinchamber.com.
If you’d like to help clean up on the Bullhead side of the River, contact Casey Lemmons at 928-763-9400 ext. 8500 or clemmons@bullheadcityaz.gov.
As an individual:
Starting at 6 a.m., Bullhead City Staff will set up stations near the boat launches at Bullhead Community Park and Rotary Park. Individuals can pick up trash bags and water and receive further guidance. Note: There will be no parking fees at Community Park tomorrow!
As a property owner:
Low-flow events are great opportunities to perform maintenance around your property and reduce the caddisfly populations while you’re at it. Take advantage of the easy access to the crevices of boat docks or areas of the shoreline where caddisfly larvae, trash, and debris congregate.
As a kayaker:
The low flows of the Colorado River will present unique hazards for motorized watercraft and unique opportunities for nonmotorized craft to traverse the water and access trash that would otherwise be inaccessible.
No matter how you participate tomorrow, please be safe! Wear hats, sunglasses, gloves, appropriate footwear, life jackets if you’ll be in the water and sunscreen. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water!
Make sure you take a selfie or two to commemorate the occasion! Use the hashtag to join the conversation online!
