My name is Kurt Winpegler I am an Army Veteran that started the Fire Service since 2003. I started as a volunteer and was hired at Fort Bragg Fire and Emergency Services in 2008. I was assigned to oversee the Annual Service Testing for Fort Bragg in 2014. I have since improved and simplified our testing operation. I test and manage annual service testing documentation on 16 pieces of equipment. I have also refined our testing procedures at my volunteer fire department by using drop tanks and recirculating water rather than using a pond and having to deal with back flushing and clean up. I conduct service testing from a drop tank and recirculate water, testing can be conducted any where there is a water supply or a water shuttle. In January of 2021 I started my company Firehawk Service Testing, LLC. I have always enjoyed operating and pumping Fire Trucks and taking pride in making sure our trucks are ready for the next “BIG ONE”. What a gorgeous day to be outside! So why not flow some water.
Excited today, and those of you that know me know that don't happen often. But today we are using our new to us trailer for the first time, and let me tell you it makes things so much easier. Also excited for a new customer. Wagram FD/North Scotland.

I've always heard of this but never seen it. After testing a truck for a Department we found a lot of brass shavings in the tank. The pump didn't have any abnormal sounds or come up short on performance, but the access shavings was a massive cause for concern. After further investigation the tank to pump check valve let loose and caused havoc on the pump.

Firefighter Injured Responding To Brush Fire

On Monday, December 23, 2024, at approximately 3:21 p.m., members of Spout Springs Emergency Services were dispatched to a brush fire on Cameron Hill Road. At approximately 3:29 p.m., while responding, and with lights and sirens activated, a vehicle collided with the Brush Truck at the intersection of Delaware Lane and NC 24. The collision caused the Brush Truck to roll over, trapping the driver.

The driver of the Brush Truck was extricated from the vehicle and was MEDEVAC to a hospital to receive treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
