Karen Apostolina has been practicing yoga since 1996 and teaching since 2012. Karen is an EYT-200 and RYT-500 Yoga teacher, registered with Yoga Alliance, and a y4c-Yoga4Cancer Trained Teacher.
Karen began her yoga journey with Shosha Bottoms of Shosha Yoga. She received her certification through Yoga Blend's teacher training with Christy Marsden, Nicole Eber and Bekah Turner. She continues to study with Master teacher Judith Lasatar most recently completing the courses, "Yoga for Anxiety and Depression” and “Experiential Anatomy,” as well as becoming a certified Relax and Renew Trainer. She is a senior teacher and mentor for the y4c- Yoga4cancer organization founded by Tari Prinster, and helps other teachers, doctors and medical professionals to understand and experience the benefits of yoga. Throughout her training, she developed an appreciation for the different styles of yoga including Iyengar, Ashtanga and Anusara, blending styles to create unique classes that pull from a spectrum of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and relevant eastern philosophies. This inclusive approach allows for a greater diversity of movement and appreciation for the practice. Her class focus is to address the real-world needs of the students, moving them steadily toward their personal goals at a sustainable pace. Karen is also a Certified Level 2 Sound Bath practitioner. A Sound Bath is a relaxing, immersive experience where quartz crystal singing bowls and planetary gongs are played with the intention of providing relaxation and an overall feeling of well being to the listener. Participants are encouraged to recline or sit comfortably and let the sound waves wash over them. Sound has been used for thousands of years to provide an outlet for emotional and physical release as well as activate the body’s natural capacity for healing.
