Flu season is around the corner.

The CDC reported 253 influenza-related pediatric deaths through June 21,2025. Of those, 42.7% occurred in children without a high-risk medical condition.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and Seahurst Pediatrics recommend that ALL children aged 6 months and older get the vaccine.

Pediatricians recommend influenza vaccine for all children 6 months and older this year, observing that the U.S. experienced a severe 2024-25 influenza season. Any vaccine appropriate for age and health status can be used.

Flu is deadly but vaccines save lives!

Latest reporting from the CDC shows this year’s flu season is the deadliest non-pandemic flu season for U.S. children. 216 children have died. This number passed last year’s flu season, which set a previous high for a non-pandemic season with 207 pediatric deaths. Even with seasonal flu activity declining since its February peak, AAP and CDC recommend everyone six months and older get vaccinated against the flu. For those of you who may not have received the email that we sent out through our new electronic health record, we wanted to share this letter from Dr. Jacob with you.

Dear Seahurst Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your trust and confidence to care for your families’ medical needs over the last four years. It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my departure from Seahurst Pediatrics in order to pursue a new professional opportunity. My last day will be November 27, 2023. It has been an honor to get to know you and watch your families grow.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your families’ lives. I have sincerely enjoyed watching your children grow and I value your relationships greatly. I wish you all only the very best.

Please know that you are in good hands with my colleagues Dr. Cranmer, Dr. Mendoza, Dr. Taylor and Dr. Bill, who are all available to continue providing quality pediatric care for your families here at Seahurst Pediatrics.

WELCOME DR. GINNIE TAYLOR!!

Seahurst Pediatrics is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Taylor to our team!

Dr. Taylor is a board-certified pediatrician who has been practicing in the PNW since 2015.

She received her MD at the University of New Mexico and completed her Pediatrics residency at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Taylor became a pediatrician because she enjoys the variety of ages she gets to take care of. She enjoys watching children and families grow, and is excited to be a part of the Burien and South Sound community.

Dr. Taylor is accepting new patients beginning on August 10, 2023!!

WELCOME TO DR. TAYLOR AND FAREWELL TO DR. NGUYEN!

Seahurst Pediatrics would like to bid farewell to Dr. Jeannie Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen has provided excellent care to the patients and families of Seahurst Pediatrics over the last 5 years, but has expressed a desire to spend more time with her own children as they continue to grow. We here at Seahurst Pediatrics thank her for her years of dedication and wish her well.

If your child is cared for primarily by Dr. Nguyen, know that we remain committed to continuing to provide quality pediatric care for your family here at Seahurst Pediatrics. We are excited to announce that we have a new pediatrician joining our practice in August of 2023, Dr. Ginnie Taylor.

While born and raised in New Mexico, Dr. Taylor has been practicing medicine in the Pacific NW since 2015. She received her medical degree at the University of New Mexico and completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Taylor is board certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Taylor became a pediatrician because she enjoys the variety of ages she gets to take care of. From helping parents learn to confidently raise their newborn to helping teenagers navigate this difficult world, her goal is to help children and young adults thrive. She practices evidence-based medicine and feels that it is important to help develop treatment plans that parents and patients are comfortable with.

She enjoys watching children and families grow and is excited to be a part of the Burien and South Sound community. On her days off you can find her playing with her daughter at the beach, cheering at a Sounders game, or cuddling on the couch with her pups.

Dr. Taylor is accepting new patients beginning on August 10, 2023.
