The $5,500 check from our BPP Bazaar has been delivered to the Tukwila Pantry. They serve approximately 2,000 families each month on-site and deliver food to an additional 800 families. Our donation will help purchase meat, eggs, and milk—items that are typically not donated to the food bank. Thank you for your generous support of our annual BPP Bazaar!

"My name's Raymond. I'm 73. I work the parking lot at St. Joseph's Hospital. Minimum wage, orange vest, a whistle I barely use. Most people don't even look at me. I'm just the old man waving cars into spaces.
But I see everything.

Like the black sedan that circled the lot every morning at 6 a.m. for three weeks. Young man driving, grandmother in the passenger seat. Chemotherapy, I figured. He'd drop her at the entrance, then spend 20 minutes hunting for parking, missing her appointments.

One morning, I stopped him. "What time tomorrow?"
"6:15," he said, confused.
"Space A-7 will be empty. I'll save it."
He blinked. "You... you can do that?"
"I can now," I said.

Next morning, I stood in A-7, holding my ground as cars circled angrily. When his sedan pulled up, I moved. He rolled down his window, speechless. "Why?"
"Because she needs you in there with her," I said. "Not out here stressing."
He cried. Right there in the parking lot.

Word spread quietly. A father with a sick baby asked if I could help. A woman visiting her dying husband. I started arriving at 5 a.m., notebook in hand, tracking who needed what. Saved spots became sacred. People stopped honking. They waited. Because they knew someone else was fighting something bigger than traffic.
But here's what changed everything, A businessman in a Mercedes screamed at me one morning. "I'm not sick! I need that spot for a meeting!"

"Then walk," I said calmly. "That space is for someone whose hands are shaking too hard to grip a steering wheel."

He sped off, furious. But a woman behind him got out of her car and hugged me. "My son has leukemia," she sobbed. "Thank you for seeing us."

The hospital tried to stop me. "Liability issues," they said. But then families started writing letters. Dozens. "Raymond made the worst days bearable." "He gave us one less thing to break over."

Last month, they made it official. "Reserved Parking for Families in Crisis." Ten spots, marked with blue signs. And they asked me to manage it.

But the best part? A man I'd helped two years ago, his mother survived, came back. He's a carpenter. Built a small wooden box, mounted it by the reserved spaces. Inside? Prayer cards, tissues, breath mints, and a note,

"Take what you need. You're not alone. -Raymond & Friends"
People leave things now. Granola bars. Phone chargers. Yesterday, someone left a hand-knitted blanket.
I'm 73. I direct traffic in a hospital parking lot. But I've learned this: Healing doesn't just happen in operating rooms. Sometimes it starts in a parking space. When someone says, "I see your crisis. Let me carry this one small piece."

So pay attention. At the grocery checkout, the coffee line, wherever you are. Someone's drowning in the little things while fighting the big ones.

Hold a door. Save a spot. Carry the weight no one else sees.
It's not glamorous. But it's everything."

We have so, so much to be thankful for! We here at BPP celebrate with a catered meal about a week before the actual date of the holiday. Look at this room full of residents! We even had some sunshine! John and his team from All Catering had prepared a delicious turkey dinner and our staff was kept busy serving the residents. Don’t forget the pumpkin pie! Emmy Purainer furnished lovely background music throughout. May we be the first to wish you “A Happy Thanksgiving!”

We had such beautiful weather for our yearly Fall Bazaar! All nine delicious homemade soups were lined up for hungry shoppers with cornbread and cookies galore; did I forget to mention Ron’s famous Chili? (with what ingredients??) The strikingly beautiful quilts were raffled and won by happy residents Nancy and Lynda. All the contributions that came in will be donated to the Tukwila Food Bank this year, and it looks to be a hefty one! Though months of work and planning go into this resident-run event, the staff plays a vital role with the setting up and taking down. Thanks to all who made this event such a success!

Our community came alive with witches and vampires, ghosts and monsters — and even a sweet little dog trotting around with a spider perched on his back! Laughter echoed through the halls, costumes dazzled, and spooky fun was had by all. What a magical night to remember!

We had a great Fall Colors drive over Hwy 410 to Clifdell for lunch at Whistling Jack’s today. There was some smoke in the area from a fire near Bumping Lake. Enjoyed a nice hike around Lake Tipsoo. We made our last (and favorite) stop of the day at Wapiti’s for ice cream before heading home.

We had a wonderful celebration honoring Kim and Betty for their 11 years of service as managers here at Boulevard Park Place! The room was filled with residents eager to show their love and appreciation for this amazing couple. We all wish them the very best as they move into the next phase of their lives. And since strawberry shortcake is one of their favorite desserts, it was enjoyed by all!😄

The Multi-Purpose Room was filled with grateful residents, all gathered to give Cory a heartfelt send-off.
Cory has served our community with a smile for many years, and during the event, the microphone was passed around for residents to share stories and anecdotes, expressing their appreciation.
Because Cory’s home and family are quite far from BPP, he has spent countless hours commuting each day. His family is thrilled to now have more time with “Dad.”
Thank you, Cory—you will be missed!

See all these smiling faces? We just spent some enriching time at MOHAI!
Ron loaded us onto the bus, and off we went. A highlight of the visit was the Nelson Mandela historical exhibit, which was especially moving.
Sometimes, it's simply wonderful to get out, explore new things, and enjoy the company of good friends!

Time for our annual end-of-summer (what? not already?) picnic at Seahurst Park. The weather could not have been more co-operative-it was a lovely day! Our BBQ guys made excellent burgers and dogs and the sea air and sun were enjoyed by all. So nice to sit and chat with your friends and neighbors. Thank you, Ron and Paula!

After two months of hard work on the lower level of Building 1, we finally got to celebrate our beautiful new space together at the August Ice Cream Social.
The chairs are brand new, the flooring has been updated, and the freshly painted walls add a vibrant touch—what an exciting transformation!
Just for fun, everyone wore a hat, adding a playful twist to the celebration.
We also had the pleasure of introducing and welcoming our new Directors, Joye and Jay, to the management team here at Boulevard Park Place. In addition, we celebrated all the August birthdays and anniversaries among us.
Smiles were everywhere! 😊
