______________
Q: What brought you to yoga? How long has it been in your life?
A: "I found yoga about 15 years ago after trying out a 26/2 class my mother-in-law recommended. I loved how it quickly calmed my mind, improved my focus, and got me into my body (and out of autopilot mode). I was hooked after a single class."
Q: Tell me about a mentor or teacher in your life?
A: "A mentor in my life is Alexis Choi, a fellow yoga teacher in Seattle… She’s taken me under her wing, helping me learn different yoga modalities and sharing tips/tricks she’s picked up in the wellness industry. Alexis really stands out as a huge contributor in my recent teaching growth!"
Q: How does your yoga practice enrich your life?
A: "Yoga gives me intentional time to slow down, be with my breath, and be in my body. In a fast-paced society, yoga has become my sanctuary… it helps me let go of my own criticisms and accept whoever I am on the mat that day."
Q: What do you feel people can gain or enjoy from yoga?
A: "Mindfulness, peace, self-care, gentleness, and presence. The health benefits go so far beyond just the physical!"
Q: What’s your advice to yoga practitioners?
A: "Listen to your body first! Yoga classes should be tailored to fit you—not vice versa. I encourage students to tune into how they’re feeling physically, energetically, and emotionally... Modifications, props, or even thoughtful rest are always welcome in my classes."
Q: Is it true that 'yoga is for everybody'?
A: "Absolutely! Yoga, meaning 'to unite,' can refer to the union of our individual consciousness with a greater consciousness… Yoga is about discovery, acceptance, and growth—and you can start anywhere."
Q: Any hidden talents, passions, or hobbies?
A: "I’m learning Spanish, love traveling, and am always exploring new plant-based recipes. Some favorites: Costa Rica, Ireland, and Thailand. In my downtime, I love thrifting, walking my pup, and diving into a good fantasy book."
