"Early treatment" refers to natural therapeutics that one may use, with the guidance of a licensed professional, in the face of a COVID infection (note that these may be "early recommendations" depending on state licensure laws for NDs).
This isn't meant to encourage vaccine hesitancy whatsoever, but rather shine light on additional considerations to help folks weather symptoms... beyond the well-known "rest, hydrate, chicken soup" (which I whole-heartedly endorse!).
Anecdotal reports - such as discussed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXxR8MH-6Ig&t=9s&ab_channel=DrAOnline - indicate these supplements and homeopathics can shift the trajectory of long-COVID in many individuals, among other positive outcomes. There are other supportive care measures not pictured here.

Did you know that when we’re sick we can tolerate much higher doses of vitamin C than when we’re healthy? Sometimes, folks can handle 5,000-6,000mg of vitamin C during an acute upper respiratory infection! Dosing to "bowel tolerance" means that we back off when bowels become loose - work with a provider to safely dial this in for you.
Also, I think we’ll see more and more conversation around vitamin C and long-haulers: “Oxidative stress, inflammation, and circulatory disorders, which are important contributors to fatigue, are also discussed in long COVID fatigue. Thus, the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, endothelial-restoring, and immunomodulatory effects of high-dose IV vitamin C might be a suitable treatment option.” [PMID 33807280]

If we can enhance overall health and vitality *before* the immune system has to deal with an acute illness, then we walk into that illness better equipped to handle it. In naturopathic medicine we call this strengthening or tonifying the terrain.
It’s not about “never getting sick” and, in fact, this often isn’t a sign of health.
What we do this spring and summer will impact how we enter the 2021/2022 fall and winter season - aka cold/flu/etc. season. 🦠

Many of my clients use massage therapy as a tool for wellbeing after trauma.

Massage lets you connect with your body and quiet some of the subconscious alarm bells that may be ringing.

After all, even if you rationally understand that you're safe now, the body stays vigilant in a trauma response.

Massage speaks in a language that the body understands (touch) and tells it that it's safe to be here now.

It's an opportunity for your body to process your story.

These sessions don't look very different from any other massage session. You can share as much or as little of your story with me as you want to. I'm not doing any psychoanalysis or therapizing..... just providing a safe space, intentional touch, and the opportunity to heal yourself.

We’re on the heels of the Superbowl and Valentine’s Day is right around the corner – rich foods, sweets and indulgences are not discouraged here, but supporting normal physiology is always on the radar!

On top of a veggie-forward diet, hydration and regular exercise that works for your body, these ideas are some you might consider when your liver (and gall bladder!) – key players in your digestive system – need some extra TLC.

Check in with your care provider to ensure any health choices are safe for your individual system. As my colleague Dr. Jolene Brighten always says, “I’m a doctor, but I’m not your doctor!”

How do you know if your liver needs some love? Here are some clues:

> Abnormal bowel movements including constipation or diarrhea
> Hemorrhoids
> Shoulder tension
> Quick to anger, frustration, feeling rushed and like there’s not enough time
> Headaches
> PMS and painful or heavy periods

This list is not exhaustive, and these issues may be due to other causes. That said, so often folks aren’t thinking about their livers unless something shows up funky on labs (i.e. elevated liver enzymes).

Through the naturopathic lens, we ask, “is this organ functioning optimally - even if labs look good?”

🌟Restoring optimal function can be a game changer in terms of quality of life. 🌟
