A sample out of our corn plot from last week. It doesn’t look too bad considering the weather in Amelia county this year. We have 20 varieties with one replicated using ABM’s SabrEx Root Inoculant. This year we have Croplan, DeKalb, NK, and Pioneer seed brands represented.

Attention to all farmers and horse owners. Check your pastures for this cute little w**d. Its called Perilla mint. It is very toxic to all ruminants and horses. Sadly we found out the hard way. We lost 7 cows yesterday with 7 more sick (dont know if they will survive) Do your research in Perilla mint. It thrives in shady areas of your pastures. Cows typically will not eat but if your grass is tough or sparce they will. It only take ingesting 2.5 lbs of the plant. The main sympton is heavy panting. They will look as if they have pneumonia.
