In 2015, she was 18 years old.
Scared. Pregnant. Unsure what to do next.
She found us after searching for help — and walked into what she later called “calmness in the middle of my storm.” Through parenting classes, prayer, and practical support, she earned baby bucks to shop in our store and prepare for her son’s arrival. In April 2016, she welcomed her first baby boy into the world — not alone, but supported.
Two years later, at just 20 years old, she found herself pregnant again. The fear returned. So did the voices of judgment around her. But when she walked back through our doors, she found the same thing she had before — love. No shame. No condemnation. Just steady support, resources, and women who believed in her.
In July 2018, she welcomed her second son.
Today she calls her boys “the biggest blessings ever” and says Next Step gave her the courage, confidence, and support she needed to choose life and raise them.
And here’s what matters:
We’ve been doing this since 1986.
At one time we were known as Burleson Pregnancy Aid Center.
Today we are Next Step Women’s Center.
Different name. Same mission.
