The word "stoic" is used quite a lot in the equine world. Horses are programmed through their nervous systems to hide and ignore pain and discomfort due to their survival instincts. Although there are those horses who do seem to show every little thing, for most it is no different for domesticated and working horses. Horses can and will work through a lot of stress and even injury before it ever becomes a glaring problem. Regular bodywork sessions can help pinpoint areas of tension and reactivity, and work to restore freedom of movement in order to divert the patterns of compensation that lead to injury.
