Here’s an idea for a muddy good time with our animal “mud” and wash sensory bin! 🐮🐘🐓

In this fun sensory bin, we learned about different animal prints (made with brown paint to look like mud) and then washed them in soap and water! Sponges and paint brushes were also used to clean up the critters!

This activity supports exploration, problem-solving, language/pretend play, fine motor skills, and sensory regulation. Who knew cleaning up could be this much fun? (Check the comments for a video!)

Did you know toys can help make food play less scary and more fun? It’s with CTS!🧸🧑‍🍳

Using dolls, stuffed animals, and other toys from home can help make play with food feel exciting! Start with utensils and work towards touching the food with hands/fingers. Don’t forget to model the same interactions yourself so the child sees that the food is not scary. Discussing how the food feels and smells increases vocabulary opportunities as well! 💜💙

A coloring tablecloth is a fabulous way to bring the family together for quality time and work on fine motor skills, too. If you can’t find a coloring tablecloth, tape different coloring sheets together and place them all over the table!💜

Bingo with a Twist! 🎉🐠
Who says therapy can’t be tasty and fun? We’ve added a crunchy twist to one of our favorite games — Bingo with Goldfish! 💜

For some of us (adults, too), food can be a great motivator! In this activity, we earned a yummy treat after practicing each word! This slight change to our Bingo game kept the child engaged and excited for each articulation trial!

Whether it’s a win on the board or a yummy treat in hand, every move is a step toward progress. 💙🐟✨

There’s magic in child-led play! These fun and engaging toys give kiddos the freedom to explore, imagine, and lead the way in their therapy sessions.

Remember these magnetic animals that were just added to our toy closet recently? Here is a fabulous example of how one toy can be used in many different ways as well as how child-led play increases engagement.

By following the child’s lead in making new animal creations, the child willingly attempted multi-syllabic words, used his imagination to come up with new animal names for each creation (which were also often 3+ syllables), and imitated therapist’s models for correct articulation placement! The best part? We both had SO much fun!💙💜

We’ve added a new toy to our therapy toolbox — a letter and picture matching toy! 🧠🔠🖼️

There are so many great ways to use this new toy, especially for our friends learning how to identify letters/sounds and blend them into words.

This is also a great tool to help teach the concept of rhyming words and how you only need to change the beginning sound to create a new rhyming word.

The “summer slide” refers to the loss of academic skills and knowledge that can occur over the summer break which can negatively impact the child when they return back to school.

Reading books is a great way to prevent the summer slide from happening in your home! Reading practice can be:

💜Talking about the pictures in the book
💙An adult reading a book out loud
💜A child reading a book out loud
💙Using predicting and inferencing skills to 💜guess what can happen next

Don’t forget to use your local library as a great resource to access to books at all reading levels!

We’ve added something exciting to our therapy toy collection— new sound puzzles!

Puzzles are frequently used for speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy! They are diverse and can be used in structured tasks or as a reward for finishing structured tasks. Our new puzzles are perfect for our animal lovers and even make the best sounds, too!

We can’t wait to see our kiddos light up as they explore these new additions during their sessions!

It’s with CTS!!!💙💜🍽️

Muffin tins are a fun way to present different foods to your children! In this activity, yogurt was used as a base while the child was allowed to dip different foods into the yogurt to try. After experimenting with different mixed flavors and textures, the child requested to mix the foods into the yogurt for their snack.

If new foods are often visually overstimulating, using a muffin tin is not recommended. However, separate bowls or divided plates may be more appropriate for less food presentations to reduce any fears or anxieties that may occur.
