I found this sea lion jawbone washed up on the beach and it started me thinking about the beauty of jawline definition. We’re so used to looking at ourselves in the mirror straight on so we don’t always appreciate our own jawline, but at an angle this does everything to frame and balance the face.

My multimodal approach to jawline definition may include deep structural filler to combat age related bone resorption, ultrasound based tightening to improve laxity, “Nefertiti” toxin to reduce muscle pull, and/or fat dissolution under a double chin. Every jawline is different so a precise approach is key!

This process is especially important for patients on GLP1 weight loss drugs. Don’t wait for the neck and chin laxity that can come with rapid weight loss. Tighten early in the journey!

If you asked me what makes my work and life meaningful, I would answer: the people. My photo album from 2025 agrees! Grateful for my patients, coworkers, and colleagues at work and my family and friends at home. 2025 was a year of movement and change, so it feels good to reflect on the activity during these few days of rest. On to 2026!

Typically I would post something about beauty icons in the news, but in her later years Brigitte Bardot became rather problematic (frankly, racist and xenophobic). There is too much xenophobia in the world today; my holiday wish is for humanity to embrace beauty in all its forms. Mini rant over, let’s talk lips.

The Parisian ‘sex kitten’ look of the late 1960’s was full hair, luscious lips, and winged liquid black eyeliner. I can’t help you with the har and makeup, but luscious lips are my speciality. Younger women can get the look with my favorite fillers, Kysse or Volbella. I never overfill- my goal is natural augmentation. Not ready for the full pout? A lip flip with microinfusions are lovely for special occasions. I take a different approach to mature lips: a surgical lip lift and laser resurfacing of pucker lines can bring back the natural appearance. Sometimes lip filler from the past has migrated, so I dissolve the past before subtle volumizing with new soft tissue filler.

Winter hands can get so dry, itchy and cracked. Add extra handwashing for holiday cooking and dishwashing (and flu season!) and these mittens are constantly stripped of their own protective oils. My winter tips:

- Moisturize every time you wash and dry your hands. I keep a pump bottle of hand cream by every sink to remind myself.

- Use a rich barrier cream at bedtime or throughout the day to baby those working hands. My go to: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. I’ve been using it for forty-plus years!!

- Overnight moisturizing gloves can seal in extra repair while you sleep.

- Don’t forget the cuticles- damaged or ragged cuticles can open the nail fold to fungal or bacterial infection.

- Liquid bandage can help ease the sting of a painful crack or fissure.

- If your dry hands develop an itchy rash, see a dermatologist. You may be developing hand dermatitis or eczema.

A little pre-holiday present for our Premier Aesthetic Dermatology community: brand new surgical instruments for snipping skin tags! We love the fine toothed Adson forceps for a precision pinch, and
the mini gradle scissors grip the tissue and are sharpened for a quick snip. We’ve even color coded them pink so the staff know they go together for sterilization.

Immunosuppression is a balancing act! Solid organ transplant recipients with skin cancer can benefit from small medication changes. This paper was 3 years in progress and gathered transplant experts from around the world. Many thanks to my colleagues and many others!
