Peninsula Health Care District

Peninsula Health Care District The vision of PHCD is that all District residents enjoy optimal health through education, prevention, and access to needed health care services.

Since the Peninsula Health Care District was established in 1947, the communities we serve have changed and evolved, as have the health care needs of District residents. One thing that has remained constant is the District’s unwavering commitment to the people living in San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo and Foster City. The District is accountable to residents, taxpayers and community partners to ensure the health of our communities, today and into the future.

In 2001, a small group of concerned community members came together in coastal San Mateo County to do something about the lack of quality dental care facing low-income communities, farmworkers, and others in need. Those founders raised seed funds to open a clinic with a single dental chair – and big dreams.

25 years later, Sonrisas Dental Health serves over 5,000 patients at 3 clinics, provides on-site dental screenings to another 5,000 children and older adults in San Mateo County, and continues to evolve with innovations aimed at fulfilling the vision of our founders: a dental home for everyone, regardless of physical, developmental, and financial barriers.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of inspiration, connection, and purpose. Let’s honor the past, embrace the present, and invest in a future where every smile matters.
