Today we gathered to celebrate our Amazing Volunteers “ANNA MAE FRIENDS” and share the way forward for Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds. But this vision doesn’t move forward without the many of you who said yes.

Yes, I can use my car.
Yes, I can donate.
Yes, I can fold baby socks.
Yes, I can stock pampers.
Yes, I can drive to someone’s home.
Yes, I can cook a meal, make a basket, lead a program, or start a moms group.
Yes, i can move boxes and clean out storage
Yes, i can give out clothes, shoes and bookbags
Yes, i can watch the babiess
Yes, i can be a doula
Yes, i can teach a class
Yes, i can move the storage
Yes, i can bring in food
Yes, i can hold someone’s hand and meet them without judgement
Yes i can because they are me and i am them ! 🌻🌻🌻

Yes, I can carry the vision and run with it.

Not because of me, but because you have a heart to see Black and Brown communities, mothers, and generations healed. Because you believe in showing up with love, with resources, with time, and with compassion.

Some of you made phone calls. Some of you gave financially so we can keep the work moving and continue to be the hands and feet in our community.

Not every volunteer is in this picture, but every heart is felt.

DRUM ROLL!!! 🥁🥁🥁

WE LAUNCHED OUR FIRST MOMMA SUPPORT GROUP LAST NIGHT!

Different ages, different experiences… and how do I know? 😂 Because I was right there in the middle of my own meltdown! But MOMS? We’re just expected to be.

Last night was powerful—full of laughter, learning, and real, raw moments. These moms showed up, shared, cried, and committed to coming back. THIS is why Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds exists—because we need spaces like this to heal, grow, and support one another.

Now, I’m challenging you! Let’s gift 10 moms the opportunity to continue this journey for the next 6 weeks. We need 10 people to sponsor 10 moms—because we are truly better together. ( a meal, pampers, a confidant booster baby shoot, pospartum kits etc)

Wow, wow, wow! TODAY IS MY GRANDMOTHER ANNA MAE’S BIRTHDAY!

As I celebrate, I’m reminded of her kindness and care. When I first became pregnant as a single mom, we were out shopping, and she said to me, “Dena, it’s okay to get something for yourself!” I’ll never forget how gentle she was, always making sure I didn’t overdo it or lift too much. I felt so loved.

That’s why, beyond her legacy of 17 children, I want to remind mothers everywhere that we matter too. Just this past week, we celebrated the second doula birth through Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds, continuing her legacy of support and love.

While we highly encourage breastfeeding, we understand that some moms, due to various circumstances, may not be able to. If you or a mom you know is in need of baby formula, please let us know. We have received a donation, but the formula will expire soon. DeYonna Pope
