Who We Are

Based in Burlington, MA and founded in 2021 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Essence et Sérénité was started as a mother-and-son desire to work in close partnership to create a meaningful brand after reflecting on our journey from Haiti to Massachusetts, and the new path that we wanted to take. Our hearts are set on embarking on this wondrous scented journey so we can help supp

ort our self-growth and yours, too. Looking back, the Covid-19 pandemic was the true catalyst that led to the birth of Essence et Sérénité. It provided the fertile space that we needed to reflect on our lives and in turn, form a positive connection between natural scents and self-development. Why did we choose 100% natural scents rather than other supporting tools to aid us in this journey? It is our commitment to offering you the same quality natural oil we use and what pure essential oil represents. All our oils are tested by a third-party lab chosen by our manufacturer to confirm their purity. We also have them retested with our own independent third-party laboratory, to ensure you are getting the best quality essential oils. Through different means, their quintessence is revealed. Similarly, in your self-awareness path, the central goal is to find the essence of life and achieve serenity. A Journey to Bainet's Coastal Breezes

When we created Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) essential oil blend, we aimed to capture the essence of a refreshing summer breeze that soothes the soul and invigorates the mind. Our inspiration came from cherished memories of visiting my grandmother’s coastal home in Bainet, a beautiful town in Haiti. Her house faced the street, across from the ocean, and on the right side of the house, a river flowed into the ocean, creating a picturesque view from the veranda. We would often sit on the veranda in a wicker rocking chair, feeling the fresh breeze of the ocean caressing our faces, carrying with it the sweet and invigorating scent of the sea. This essential oil blend was crafted to evoke those vivid, serene moments. It includes:

Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Peppermint was added to evoke the crisp and invigorating aroma of the cool breeze we felt when visiting Bainet.

Lemon (Citrus limon): The bright, zesty scent of lemon was included to add a touch of sunshine, reminiscent of the bright days spent at the beach.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): We chose lavender for its calming scent to introduce a serene, floral note that transported us to those peaceful moments on the veranda. Its soothing scent helped make time stand still.

Lime (Citrus latifolia): Lime was included for its tart, vibrant fragrance, complementing lemon’s zest and infusing the blend with a lively energy that mirrors the playful essence of our summer days exploring the coastline. Its fresh, tangy scent adds a burst of excitement to the blend.

Spearmint (Mentha spicata): Lastly, we added spearmint for its sweet, minty freshness as we wanted to enhance the overall cooling sensation to leave you feeling refreshed from head to toe. It captures the Bainet’s coastal breezes we cherished, making every breath a delightful experience.

For us, Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) is not just an essential oil blend; it’s an experience in a bottle. I’m deeply thankful that my scented journey brought me here, to Grasse, the City of Perfume. 🌸

Grateful for the deeper connection I’m forming with Orange Blossom, whose soft floral sillage seems to follow me everywhere. 💐

I can already feel the heart of my next creation taking shape, an olfactory memory of Grasse, with Orange Blossom at its center, wrapped in sweet Rose, and grounded in deeply relaxing Lavender. 🌹🪻

Although the base notes—
sandalwood, ho wood, and rosewood—
ground the scent and hold it together,
It is the messages carried by the bloom
that move us.
Not just what we see—
But what we experience in its presence.
The quiet joy. The rising energy. The resilience.
The way it seems to say, Spring is here.
Embrace this new beginning.
That’s what this image held for me:
a bloom in whole light—
delicate, gentle, fleeting—
Yet impossible to ignore.

To translate that moment,
I chose the heart:
magnolia, gardenia, and rose.
And to capture the blooms bathing in the sun,
bergamot and just a breath of lavender
were added to create the delicate, airy sweetness
that became First Bloom—
a fleeting floral fragrance, carrying a quiet message of resilience, hope, and new beginnings in its heart.

I wish this Spring you encounter many fragrant blooms

I’ve seen this garden before.
But this time, I looked closer—
and saw the blooms not only as beautiful flowers,
but as evidence.

Of time.
Of quiet work beneath the surface.
Of seasons that asked more than they gave.
They weren’t just beautiful.
They were resilient.
And their presence seemed to whisper:
“I didn’t bloom by chance.”

That feeling—
of resilience held gently in stillness—
is what shaped the foundation of First Bloom:
sandalwood, ho wood, and rosewood—
soft and grounding natural oils, chosen to hold the scent,
just as the earth holds the bloom.

Last year, I composed a natural scent called Wellness Garden—a gentle attempt to bottle the essence of early Spring. Not the whole season, but the quiet sensory details: the scent of wet soil, stone, herbs, and trees; the warmth of the first sun on the garden. I built it around a mood board depicting serene, beautiful gardens.

This Spring, I returned to that same mood board. But rather than capturing the full sensory palette, I focused on a single, intimate moment: the feeling you get when you witness the first blooms— when you breathe in their fragrance and delicately touch their petals. Priceless.

You involuntarily smile, feel their quiet force. It promises a new beginning.
From the harshest winter, the most exquisite flower blooms.
So this scent is for that moment.

This is the first of three photos from the original mood board used in my latest fragrance creation: First Bloom — a delicate, airy, sweet aroma with a dominant floral heart, lifted by traces of citrus and herbs, and grounded with a soft, woody base.

I like to think of many essential oils as little 'bottles of tranquility.' ✨ Some of my favorites include Frankincense, with its warm, resinous aroma that invites stillness, and Vetiver, deeply grounding with its rich, earthy scent. Palo Santo adds a fresh, slightly sweet woodiness 🌿, while Myrrh’s warm, spicy aroma brings a sense of ancient calm.

Just a couple of drops on my scarf, aromatherapy bracelet, or wood diffuser is all I need to feel grounded and present. 🌸 If you want to add calming scents to your self-care routine, consider trying these sacred oils to bring serenity into your space.
