Who We Are

Based in Burlington, MA and founded in 2021 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Essence et Sérénité was started as a mother-and-son desire to work in close partnership to create a meaningful brand after reflecting on our journey from Haiti to Massachusetts, and the new path that we wanted to take. Our hearts are set on embarking on this wondrous scented journey so we can help support our self-growth and yours, too. Looking back, the Covid-19 pandemic was the true catalyst that led to the birth of Essence et Sérénité. It provided the fertile space that we needed to reflect on our lives and in turn, form a positive connection between natural scents and self-development. Why did we choose 100% natural scents rather than other supporting tools to aid us in this journey? It is our commitment to offering you the same quality natural oil we use and what pure essential oil represents. All our oils are tested by a third-party lab chosen by our manufacturer to confirm their purity. We also have them retested with our own independent third-party laboratory, to ensure you are getting the best quality essential oils. Through different means, their quintessence is revealed. Similarly, in your self-awareness path, the central goal is to find the essence of life and achieve serenity. Rêve Orange is one of my all-time favorite natural perfumotherapy creations. It was first inspired by a friend feeling burned out, and through careful layering, it came to carry a richer message: Memories of joyful gatherings, laughter, and love from my time in Haiti.

Bright top notes of orange, bergamot, and mandarin lift the spirit, while palmarosa, geranium, and neroli open the heart. At the base, vanilla, sandalwood, and benzoin bring warmth, comfort, and quiet joy.

Like Rêve Orange, many natural fragrances hold a quiet magic, supporting and soothing, while carrying their own layered stories. May you discover the scents that lift you, calm you, and wrap you in beautiful memories.

A summer pause at the entrance of the beautiful villa Ephrussi, Cap Ferrat. 🏡💗🌴

Boats drift quietly. Birds trace invisible paths above the sea. The soft, relaxing scent of warm salt air fills my lungs, carrying sunlight, memory, and a whisper of fragrant herbs from the garden.⛵

The blue sky and stillness offer a long-overdue pause. Just being near the water, slowing down, and letting the day unfold quietly reminded me how important it is to take time for life’s simple pleasures.

This wondrous seascape has inspired me deeply. I’m now beginning to explore how to translate its whispered message into a natural aromatherapy fragrance that captures its calm, light, and timeless beauty.

A Journey to Bainet's Coastal Breezes

When we created Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) essential oil blend, we aimed to capture the essence of a refreshing summer breeze that soothes the soul and invigorates the mind. Our inspiration came from cherished memories of visiting my grandmother’s coastal home in Bainet, a beautiful town in Haiti. Her house faced the street, across from the ocean, and on the right side of the house, a river flowed into the ocean, creating a picturesque view from the veranda. We would often sit on the veranda in a wicker rocking chair, feeling the fresh breeze of the ocean caressing our faces, carrying with it the sweet and invigorating scent of the sea. This essential oil blend was crafted to evoke those vivid, serene moments. It includes:

Peppermint (Mentha piperita): Peppermint was added to evoke the crisp and invigorating aroma of the cool breeze we felt when visiting Bainet.

Lemon (Citrus limon): The bright, zesty scent of lemon was included to add a touch of sunshine, reminiscent of the bright days spent at the beach.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): We chose lavender for its calming scent to introduce a serene, floral note that transported us to those peaceful moments on the veranda. Its soothing scent helped make time stand still.

Lime (Citrus latifolia): Lime was included for its tart, vibrant fragrance, complementing lemon’s zest and infusing the blend with a lively energy that mirrors the playful essence of our summer days exploring the coastline. Its fresh, tangy scent adds a burst of excitement to the blend.

Spearmint (Mentha spicata): Lastly, we added spearmint for its sweet, minty freshness as we wanted to enhance the overall cooling sensation to leave you feeling refreshed from head to toe. It captures the Bainet’s coastal breezes we cherished, making every breath a delightful experience.

For us, Fraîcheur d’été (Cool Summer) is not just an essential oil blend; it’s an experience in a bottle. We hope it will transport you to your own memories of sitting in a rocking chair on a cottage veranda, watching a wondrous coastal landscape, and feeling its gentle breeze and scent embracing you.

I’m deeply thankful that my scented journey brought me here, to Grasse, the City of Perfume. 🌸

Grateful for the deeper connection I’m forming with Orange Blossom, whose soft floral sillage seems to follow me everywhere. 💐

I can already feel the heart of my next creation taking shape, an olfactory memory of Grasse, with Orange Blossom at its center, wrapped in sweet Rose, and grounded in deeply relaxing Lavender. 🌹🪻
