Comfort is key at Moonstone Healing!
There are many ways to add support to your body on the massage table:
1. Bolsters: typically placed under the ankles when facedown and under the knees when face up. Sometimes this booster can add pressure to the low back and clients want it removed. Other times the bolster adds the right amount of support to help you feel comfortable.
2. Shoulder bolsters: I typically use these for people who want less pressure in the chest area when lying facedown. They can also help support when face up with shoulder pain/pressure.
3. Pillows: I use these in all kinds of ways! When I do a side lying massage there is one under the head, between the knees, and one for the person to hold to add shoulder support. Can also be used in place of ankle/knee bolster.
4. Neck pillow: warmed in the towel warmer and placed under the neck usually when face up.
5. Eye pillow: placed over the eyes when face up and can add relaxing pressure in this area. It can help people tune out and get deeper into meditation.
6. Towels: the most versatile bolstering device ! These can be used to prop up shoulders, neck, legs, and hips. Using a few under the hip points when facedown can help relieve low back pressure and hip pain.
I am willing to get creative with you! If we try one technique and it doesn’t work there is always another to try! My goal is to add support and comfort to every massage.
