Don’t forget to set your food out for the mail carriers on May 9th!!!

Alamance County, it’s time to Stamp Out Hunger!

We’re teaming up with the U.S. Postal Service and local food pantries to stock the shelves for our neighbors in need - but we can’t do it without you.

Whether you have a few cans to spare or a few hours to give, here is how you can make a difference:

🥫 Donate: Put a bag of unexpired non-perishable canned or boxed food at your mailbox on May 9, 2026. Your carrier handles the rest!

🙋‍♂️ Volunteer: We need hands on deck to help sort and distribute the donations! It’s a great way to give back with friends or family. Email Tara Nager at tnager@uwalamance.org to sign up.

We are proud to announce a monthly partnership with Goodwill Industries and the City of Burlington to bring essential career and digital resources directly to Alamance County!

Beginning May 12, 2026, the Goodwill On the Go mobile unit will be stationed in the United Way of Alamance County’s rear parking lot (facing Webb Avenue) every second Tuesday of the month.

Services include:
• Employment services
• Career navigation support
• Digital literacy training
• Resume and interview assistance
• Full access to internet and office services (printing/scanning)

Recognizing the importance of student nutrition, staff will also be available to assist community members with navigating and submitting online free school breakfast and lunch applications.

Check out this grant opportunity for the people right here in Alamance County!!!

The Community Forward Grant provides one‑time funding of $2,000–$10,000 to Alamance County residents who have ideas to strengthen their neighborhoods and address one or more social determinants of health (such as community connection, access to resources, or neighborhood conditions). The goal is to support community‑led ideas, small steps that can make a meaningful difference when driven by the people who live here. Applications are due Friday, May 1, 2026.

Open Door Clinic is excited to announce that our Executive Director, Janay Powell, is expecting a baby!

While we provide care for our community every day, this time we’re celebrating a very special little patient on the way. We are overjoyed for Janay and her family as they prepare to welcome their newest team member.
