We hear it all the time: “A healthy baby is all that matters.”

Of course safety matters most, but that is not the whole story.

🩷Your birth experience matters.
🩷Your transition into motherhood matters.
🩷Your baby’s transition into life matters too.

That’s why having a birth plan can be so valuable.

It helps you think through what matters to you, what you want to feel supported in, and what should be respected by your birth team.

If you are exploring home birth or birth center birth for the first time, it makes complete sense that hearing something like “the cord is around the baby’s neck” would feel scary.

A lot of parents hear that phrase and immediately assume the worst. We understand why. But this is exactly why education matters so much.

As midwives, we have seen this time and time again. We know what to listen for, what to watch for, and how to assess whether baby is doing well during labor. Safety is always the priority.

Our goal with content like this is to help families feel informed, supported, and less afraid of the unknown. You do not need to live in fear. You deserve to be educated, empowered, and cared for well.

Going past your due date does not automatically mean something is wrong.

As the weeks go on, care becomes more intentional. Monitoring increases, baby’s heart rate and movement are checked closely, and if needed, a hospital consult happens at 42 weeks.

That does not automatically mean you’re forced into an induction. It means you get more information, more support, and a clearer picture of what is safest for you and baby.

Sometimes the body simply needs a little more time.

A lot of moms think preparing physically for birth means they need to flip their whole life upside down overnight 🙃.

That is usually not the answer.

If you are already active, keep going in a way that supports your pregnancy.

If movement has not really been part of your life yet, start simple. Walking can be a great place to begin.

The same goes for nutrition.

For a lot of women, pregnancy is the first time they are really slowing down to think about what they are putting into their body. That can feel empowering, but it can also feel overwhelming if people make it sound like there is one perfect way to do it.

There isn’t.

Good care meets women where they are.

It looks at their history, their relationship with food, their fears, their habits, and their current lifestyle. Then it helps them take the next right step.

That is how confidence is built.
That is how healthier pregnancies are supported.
And that is how moms leave with tools they can carry far beyond birth and into motherhood.

Birth has a way of humbling every plan in the best possible way.

They were filling the tub.
She was still talking.
Everything felt steady.

Then her water broke and suddenly baby was not waiting.

These are the moments that show how intuitive birth can be and how important it is to have someone in the room who knows how to stay calm, assess quickly, and support what is unfolding in real time.

Beautiful. Fast. Wild. Powerful.

Exactly the kind of story that stays with you 🩷

Do you have a “that escalated quickly birth story too 👇🏼?

Nobody talks about this part

Not the births
Not the babies
Not the beautiful moments

This

The hours behind the scenes
Building something that doesn’t exist yet
Holding a vision most people can’t even see

While everyone else is scrolling
I’m creating

While others are waiting for permission
I’m building a new standard of care

This is what it looks like before the doors open
Before the rooms are filled
Before lives are changed

InnerBirth isn’t coming
It’s being built from the ground up

Most women expect the common pregnancy symptoms.
Vision changes usually are not one of them 👀

But pregnancy can temporarily affect your eyesight, and sometimes even your prescription.

That means if headaches start showing up out of nowhere, it may not just be hormones. It could be worth getting your eyes checked too.

One more reminder that pregnancy changes more than people realize, and sometimes the “small” symptoms are actually helpful clues.

If something feels off, pay attention to it.

I just want to take a moment to give some love to Sozo Chiropractic 💛

They have such a beautiful history of supporting moms, babies, and families in our community and it truly shows in the way they care for every person who walks through their doors.

After my recent accident, they have also played a huge role in my own healing and I am so incredibly grateful.

As a midwife, I deeply believe in chiropractic care, not just during pregnancy, but as an essential part of ongoing whole person wellness. The body was designed to function in alignment and chiropractic care helps support that in such a powerful way.

Sozo, thank you for the love, the care, and the impact you continue to make. We are so lucky to have you in this community.

❓What do moms need to stop apologizing for?

Pooping 💩 during birth.

Yes, really!

It’s one of the most common questions women ask as they get closer to labor, usually with a little embarrassment 🫣 and a quiet, “I just have to ask…”

But the truth is, girl there is no need to apologize.

This is a normal part of the birth process. It happens. And for midwives, it can actually be a really encouraging sign that baby is getting close.

👉🏽Birth is not meant to look polished.
👉🏽It is not meant to be cute.
👉🏽It is not meant to be controlled every second.

🩷It is real.
🩷It is physiological.
🩷And it is powerful.

So if this is something you’ve secretly worried about, let this be your reminder that your body is not doing something wrong.

It is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

The more we normalize honest conversations around birth, the more free women feel walking into it with confidence instead of shame.

One major difference between hospital 🏥 birth and home 🏠 birth is the pace.

In many hospital settings, the cord is clamped and cut very quickly after birth.

In out of hospital birth, there is often more space to pause.

To wait…
To watch…
To let that transition happen without rushing it.

That slower pace supports the baby’s continued adjustment, protects those first moments of connection, and creates an environment where mom, dad, and baby can simply be together ❤️.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do in birth is not rush what does not need to be rushed.
