Catamounts, welcome back! The energy on campus is back, and we’re here for it.
Winter can make routines tricky: short days, cold mornings, and that “I’ll start later” feeling. Prof. Connie Tompkins has a great perspective: think of winter as a season for maintenance, not perfection. Small, consistent moves matter. Swap “I have to work out” for “I get to move,” and notice the first wins: better sleep, better mood, more patience.

Need ideas to keep moving? UVM has plenty:

🎿 Ski & Snowboard Club — embrace the snow
🥾 Outing Club — winter hikes and fresh air
🏋️ Campus Rec — classes and open gym time
⛑️ Wilderness First Responder Course — build outdoor skills and confidence

Start simple: block out 10 minutes this week for movement. Grab a friend, take a walk, stretch, and pay attention to how you feel after. Those small steps add up.

Here’s to a steady, energized start to the semester!

Our Public Health Sciences and Communication Sciences & Disorders students tackled some big challenges through their capstone projects this fall:

• Fostering intergenerational connections
• Advancing substance use prevention

These projects highlight the incredible partnerships that make hands-on learning possible. Thank you to our community partners and faculty mentors for helping students create meaningful change.
