Accessible nature based learning and enrichment group

Description: Individualized and adapted group geared towards home schoolers. This group is supported by a Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist. Activities are chosen with intention to develop foundational skills such as motor development, language & speech, social play, sensory integration, nature exploration, and appreciation. Academic skills are woven into gross and fine motor, nature, storytelling, music, art, and sensory activities. Open to all children with low child to adult ratio(guaranteed 3:1). Age range flexible with approval. Potty training not required. Minimum of 3 participants to run and maximum of 6.

Happy to have her part of our team!!

✨ Today for we’re celebrating Page Carriveau – an active member of our community, fellow Wordler, and someone who wears many hats with heart.

Page is a Speech Therapist and Family Education Advocate with Stacked Therapies, where she works every day to support kids and families. She also serves on the boards of the BASD Foundation and the Burlington Montessori PTO, championing education and opportunities for local students.

Her impact doesn’t stop there—Page volunteers with the Food Pantry Community Garden and Kiwanis rec league youth soccer, showing up wherever there’s a need. On top of all that, she’s a proud mom of two and a lover of local art, food, and our public library.

💛 This Sunday, you can catch Page behind the bar at Archives, serving up drinks in support of the BASD Foundation. Stop by, say hi, and support Page and her passion for strengthening our community!

Having a fixed or growth mindset can make a big difference in managing challenging situations and frustration tolerance. If your child frequently uses fixed mindset statements and struggles to handle challenges they may be stuck in a fixed mindset.

OT can help them learn to work through challenges and develop a growth mindset.

Therapy putty is a great activity to both build the fine motor skills needed for handwriting, cutting, and more as well as provide regulating proprioceptive input. try hiding small objects and having your child stretch and pull the putty to find them all!

Occupational therapy provides a variety of fun and engaging activities to progress your child's skills!

Borrow First, Practice Later!
There’s so much focus on self-regulation these days—but let’s not forget that children first need to experience co-regulation.

Think of it as “borrowing regulation” from a calm adult before they can do it on their own. 💛

As parents and caregivers, we can model calm by showing:
🌬️ Slow breathing
🗣️ Soft, steady tone
👀 Gentle eye contact
🤲 Relaxed posture

These cues help sync your child’s nervous system back into a safe, calm state.

From there, children grow into shared regulation (working together) and eventually self-regulation (doing it independently).

As we approach the start of the school year here are some tips to ease the transition. For many kids whether it is their first day or returning after a long summer the transition between summer and school can be challenging. They will require time and grace as they adjust to a new routine.
