Butterfly has launched the world’s first AI-powered Gestational Age tool—now live in Malawi and Uganda.

With a simple blind sweep, midwives and frontline providers can now quickly and accurately calculate gestational age—no image interpretation or training required.

Why it matters:
💡 92% of maternal and neonatal mortality occurs in low- and middle-income countries.
💡 Early, accurate GA is critical to safe and timely care.
💡 This tool expands access and enables the right interventions at the right time.

Developed by the University of North Carolina, with support from the Gates Foundation, the model was trained with African population data. This milestone builds on Butterfly’s broader efforts across SSA—reaching 697+ facilities and millions of pregnancies.
