As the moon continues on her cyclical journey, she pauses in her brightest and largest lunation of the year as a full, super "Beaver Moon" in 13° Ta**us. This is the sign of fixed earth, and when you combine that with beaver energy, it’s time to ground in and focus on foundation.
Like the bull is heavy, Ta**us energy likes to build roots. Arriving after the fire of Aries, this sign shows up to help tame any unruly flames that may have burned out of control. While still a little wild and animalistic, Ta**us energy prefers to feel comfortable and stable most of all. They prefer nourishing food, plenty of rest, and anything else that enhances pleasure and a state of feeling good. Ruled by Venus, this is a sign that needs beauty in its life, as much as grounding. With Venus currently in its other home sign of Libra, there is a complementary vibe leading up to this moon. When Venus shifts into Scorpio, the opposite of Ta**us, one day after the full moon, we still feel cooperation, but on a different level. Venus in Scorpio likes to beautify the dark and mysterious, as well as the traumatic and turbulent. When this transit happens in the portal of a Ta**us SUPERMoon, shadows within ourself will become illuminated. We see the wounds within us at this time, because we need to alchemize the way we attach to the stories related. Mercury, the planet of communication, is currently in truth-speaking Sagittarius, and now that Mercury is in its pre-retrograde shadow, the voices we hear come from within. Don’t be surprised if this moon brings out your inner critic or escalates self-judgement. All of this lower frequency is pulled to the surface through Scorpio’s power. It’s also being pulled up to the moon. With this moon being in “Super” phase and at its perigree, or closest point to the earth, we also have the power of lunar energy to pull things out of us for good. This week’s moon is providing ample space for healing. Supermoons can be felt up to 5 days before and after their peak. Let this window of energy happening just after all celebrations of dead provide you the space to also let your faults and past versions of yourself you’ve grown out of rest in peace for good.
Sun and Venus in Scorpio relate to rebirth. Ta**us is a sign of fertility. This Full SUPERMoon in Ta**us encourages us to use the “bullsh*t” in our lives as fertilizer to help us grow. We can turn our past mistakes into lessons, rather than letting them place us as a victim. We all have faults, and we’re all growing. Use this moon to give yourself grace with the adjustment periods that come your way as you strive to become a better person overall.
In the West, the moon is in the second sign of the zodiac. In the East, the moon is found in the 2nd of 27 nakshatras, or lunar mansions. Vedic Astrology places this moon in Bharani Nakshatra, or the Star of Restraint. It could also be interpreted as the Star of Sustainability or the Star of Sustenance, as it spans from 13°-20° Aries—a portion of the zodiac dedicated to vitality. Represented by a yoni and/or the womb, Bharani Nakshatra teaches us to control our power and manage our energy. Ruled by Yama, the god of death and life cycles, this lunar mansion teaches us that life is always transitioning from one ending into another beginning, and we must trust the flow.
Bharani, like Ta**us, is ruled by Venus, the sign of the feminine. This moon wants us to both nurture and isolate, create and destroy, restrain and release, etc. Ultimately, this lunar portal is about finding balance. In Hinduism this is the first full moon after Diwali. Also known as Kartika Purnima, this lunation celebrates the victory of Lord Shiva over the great demon Tripurasura. This story represents our own ability to conquer darkness with light. As we navigate some of the darkest months of the year, give yourself this season to cultivate a shine from within. The more we learn to train ourselves to seek inner light, the easier it will be to overcome challenging and dark situations ahead.
November holds quite the cosmic tension. We will experience five retrogrades, including Mercury. It’s like the universe is nudging us to turn deeply within, so we can fix ourselves in order to fix the world. No matter what side you view the moon from, it’s a time to heal and shed ourselves of the layers that keep us sick, broken, and out of alignment. As we continue to navigate this shadow season, let the Beaver Moon motivate you now to keep going. Everything we work on right now is slowly piecing together our future. Are you currently building on stable ground? If so, trust the process and maintain your momentum! If not, release what sinks your foundation and give yourself permission to begin again. Full Moons are always a time of redirection. Use this month’s full moon to get yourself back on track, and back where you feel most in attunement.
