Memorial Day and Veterans Day aren’t the same—and understanding the difference matters.
Memorial Day is a time of solemn remembrance. It’s about honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country. For many veterans and military families, it’s deeply personal.
This isn’t just a long weekend—it’s a day to pause, reflect, and remember those we’ve lost.
How to approach Memorial Day conversations with care:
Instead of saying "Happy Memorial Day," consider saying: “Thinking of those who made the ultimate sacrifice today.”
🔷 Ask, if appropriate: “Is there someone you’re remembering today?”
🔷 Be mindful—this day can bring up grief for those who served alongside the fallen.
How to support veterans in your workplace and community:
✔️ Acknowledge the weight of this day for veterans and Gold Star families
✔️ Offer space for personal reflection or participation in remembrance events
✔️ Support organizations and veteran-led efforts that honor the legacy of those we’ve lost
