Essential Whole Body Health will be hosting HerScan again this year!
HerScan is a mobile Breast Ultrasound Screening company that provides much needed access to breast ultrasound testing using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology used by highly experienced RDMS Sonographers & Board Certified Radiologists.
The HerScan program makes it convenient and affordable for women to be scanned, adding invaluable protection to their annual health routines.
HerScan helps women do more for their breast health, resulting in a higher detection rates of cancer than with mammography alone. The power of an ultrasound can increase detection from approximately 48% to 97% in dense breasts.
Breast Health is important!
There are many ways to stay on top of breast health. Here are a few of our favorite! Not a complete list, but a good start!
1. THERMOGRAPY:
Thermography is a painless, non-invasive test with zero exposure to radiation used to detect changes in the breast and body. It is an adjunctive screening method helpful in diagnosis and documentation of other diseases.
Thermography Health Screenings are available at Essential Whole Body Health. We offer: Full Body, Breast and Torso screenings.
2. LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (massage)
The lymphatic system is the body’s filtration and immune response system. It is important for optimal body function as well as a vital part of our immune system. It helps to fight against bacteria and other infections. Your lymphatic system runs through your entire body with lymph nodes running from your head to your feet.
Often movement and exercise are not enough to move lymph through your body. When the lymphatic system does not drain fluids properly, your tissue swells, appears puffy and is often uncomfortable. This causes you to become ill, fatigued, experience sleeplessness, swollen lymph nodes and swelling of the extremities. If left unattended, this swelling an become lymphoedema.
When this happens, MLD or Manual Lymphatic Drainage is used to encourage natural drainage of the lymph system. This is done using a specific sequence of movements to get your lymph nodes to drain and the lymph to flow again.
Try manual lymphatic drainage at your next scheduled (massage) appointment.
3. LYMPHATIC FACIAL CUPPING
Prep your face and neck with an oil serum that help the cup to glide. Using a small cup, gently squeeze & apply the cup to your skin, releasing to create suction, pumping a few times. Then squeeze again, to connect the cup to the skin and gently glide the cup toward the lymph collectors. See diagram below.
Cupping is meant to increase blood circulation and decrease puffiness along with stimulating lymphatic flow. The cups pull blood up into the areas you've worked on that may have had stagnant blood, lymph or sinus fluid, which causes oxygen to flow helping the body to eliminate toxins. It also stimulates collagen production, relives muscle tension and softens fine lines and wrinkles!
Add facial cupping to your next massage AND grab a set of cups on your way out the door!
4. DRY BRUSHING
Dry brushing, generally done before a shower, stimulates the lymphatic system which is our ‘defense system’. The lymphatic system is a one way network of vessels that carry white blood cells to fight infection & disease within our bodies.
Dry brushing helps detoxify your skin in by increasing blood circulation & promotes lymph drainage & flow. It gets rid of dead/ flakey skin, dirt & oil making your skin healthier.
We divide the body into 4 quadrants, pushing the lymph towards the major nodes for that quadrant. See diagram.
Dry brushes are available for purchase at Essential Whole Body Health.
