I'd say our 3rd annual water balloon fight was a "splashing" success! Over 4,000 water balloons enjoyed between our residents, staff, families and Little Texans- Burnet ! Not to mention grilled hot dogs and chips! Yum!
After today, 2 things are for certain:
1. We all had an absolute blast!
2. After 3 years of doing this, we can tell these kiddos are getting better with their aim and harder with their throws!

Thank you all for the memories!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Today we witnessed how wonderful and mighty a community can be when it comes together to support one of it's own. Thank you to every single family, friend, business, and stranger who donated their hard earned money, donated their precious time or purchased a chicken meal to support our fundraiser. It was an overwhelming success!

We've got the grill fired up and full of chicken and we can't wait to see yall! Come on out and say hi!

Derrick Prince our friend and Director of Maintenance here at Oaks Nursing Center received word on Sunday, July 6th that his 22 year old Son Preston’s body was recovered after being swept away with his truck in the flooding waters. No one plans for such a tragedy to occur and most certainly not to someone as young and vibrant as Preston.
Oaks Nursing Center is in the business of helping people and it doesn’t just stop at caring for our residents. Oaks Nursing Center will be having a benefit BBQ this Friday, July 11th from 11am until we are sold out. The meal is $15 and includes grilled chicken, potato salad, beans and bread. Local orders of 10 plates or more will be delivered. Cash donations as well as Zelle and Venmo are set up with 100 % of the proceeds going to Derrick and his family during this time of need. Please see the flyer below for more information. Contact Dixie at (512) 756-6044 to place your order. Cash donations can be given to dixie at the receptionist desk and QR codes for both Zelle and Venmo are on the flyer to be scanned. (If needed, the last 4 #'s of phone number are 3977)

Thank you in advance to every one for participating in our fundraiser, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Clyde Doering, Administrator

Update to the Update:

Again, Oaks Nursing Center wants to say thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as our phones and internet have been down all day. As we all start to get tucked into our beds, our final update is that we have restored internet and our phones are now working. Thank you for your continued patience and prayers.

To the families that we have seen today and the kind words we have received, thank you all so very much and we APPRECIATE YOU ALL!

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with our community, our families and friends as we are all dealing with various issues related to this terrible flood.

Another Update:

We are still working on the internet and phones. Thank you all for being so understanding. We are all doing well. We had ice cream for lunch as that makes every thing better. We do want to give a HUGE Thank you to a couple of family members of ours who provided lunch and dinner for our staff. I am extremely proud of our amazing team and the care being provided regardless of what is happening outside of our doors.

Again, we want to offer our most sincere prayers to every one affected by the terrible weather.

UPDATE:
We spoke with Spectrum and there is an outage in our area, so bare with us as I am sure a lot of folks are dealing with this same issue. All of our residents and staff continue to be safe.

Thank you.

Everyone here at Oaks Nursing Center both residents and staff are doing fine. We did have some flooding in some common areas of the facility, but we are fortunate, as we have seen throughout our community, it could have been way worse. Our internet is down at the moment, so if any of our families have tried to call, we apologize.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this terrible flooding.
