Did you know there are different types of attention?
After a brain injury, many people struggle with focus—but not always in the same way.
Here are 3 key types of attention SLPs often work on:
🧠 Sustained Attention → Staying focused on one task for a long time (like reading a book)
🧠 Selective Attention → Ignoring distractions to focus on one thing (like talking in a noisy room)
🧠 Divided Attention → Multitasking between activities (like cooking while on the phone)
If daily tasks suddenly feel overwhelming after injury or illness, speech therapy can help.
